Frequently there are more applicants for examination than can lie- accommodated. Therefore, in <order that those who live at a distance may be sure of an examination and thus not make a trip in vain, priorities will be sent on all requests to all who live 20 miles or more from Sylva. It is remarkable the number of ?early cases of cancer that have 'been uncovered in this clinic. All within the age limit, or with definite symptoms should make an ^effort to have their physical examination at the earliest time. There are two good films on cancer that are available through the State Board of Health for use by clubs or other organizations. ""Traitor Within", is an informative film, showing graphically in color the early symptoms of cancer, how the abnormal cancer cells multiply and spread throughout the body if the symptoms are ignored. A $21,500,000 flood control program for the French Broad River in Western North Carolina has been proposed by the Tennessee Valley Authority. The proposal was in a report sent to President Truman last week. Rev. Lawrence Crawford officiated. Mr. Nicholson, who was 86 years old, had been in ill health for 3 years, but he worked up until a week before his death, which was caused by a heart condition. A retired farmer, he was born in South Carolina, coming to Cullowhee at the age of 13. In 1883 he was married to Mary Hicks Ashe.
