A SURPRISE birthday party was given July
16 for Mrs. Orlie Murray at the home of her
son, Vance, on East Fork. It was in honor of
her 68th birthday. Mrs. Murray is the widow
of the late Moody Murray on East Fork. A
covered-dish supper followed the party.
Those attending the party were her
daughters, Mrs. Frank Robinson, Mrs. Grady
Rice, Mrs. Billy Brown, Mrs. Harold Coates;
her sons, Vance, Don, Carl, Joe and Bernard
Murray; in-laws, Harold Coates, Frank
Robinson, Treva, Rita, Janet, Shirley, and
Louisa Murray; her grandchildren, Karen,

their mother on her 74th bir
thday July 10 with a surprise
dinner and cake at the home of
her daughter, Mrs Monte
Ricker Jr., of Paint Rock. She
received many beautiful gifts
and cards and a money tree
from all the family. Her eight
children are Mrs. Perry
Lambe, Paint Rock; Mrs. J O.
Roberts, Marshall; Mrs.
Monte Ricker Jr., Paint Rock;
Mrs. Coy Briggs, Weaverville;
Mrs. Virgil Garrett, Marshall;
Mrs. George Wingate,
Charlotte; Arthur K. Ramsey,

of Hot Springs. All 29 grand

about a hopeless cardiac case?
Of course, he jumps to an
erroneous conclusion and
knee-slapping comedy ensues
as the Southern Appalachian
Repertory Theatre (SART)
presents its production of
"Send Me NoFlowers" nightly
July 20 through July 31.
Written by the playwriting
team of Norman Barasch and
Carroll Moore, "Send Me No
Flowers" opened on Broadway
in December 1960. One critic
asked "who would have
thought a slight case of in
digestion could produce so
manylaughs."
The SART cast stars Charles
Montgomery as the
hypochondriac husband
George Kimball and Deborah
Compton as his loving and
impractical wife Judy.
The comedy also features
Greg Wolsky as Vito, David D.
Edwards as Bert Power, H
Lee Fowlkes as Doctor
Morrissey, and Jim Rivers as
Arnold Nash
Gurtain time is 8:15 p.m
Tuesday through Saturday and
2:30 p.m. for Sunday matinees
The theatre is closed on
Mondays.
Tickets are $3 for adults and
$2 for students and senior
