North Carolina taxpayers are making more errors on their Federal tax returns this year, the internal Revenue Service says, mostly in arithmetic and the wrong tax table. A doublecheck of all figures should help reduce the math errors, the IRS says, but a lit tle more care should be taken in using the tax table. To reach the correct tax figure, find the tax table which fits the filing status (single, married, etc.) and locate the taxable income line. At the top of the table the number of exemptions are listed and where this figure crosses with the taxable in come, this is the correct tax. If the figure is smaller than what was withheld, the taxpayer is due a refund. If it is larger, ad ditional tax is owed and the IRS is due a check. Any error, whether in arithmetic or using the wrong tax table, can slow up a re fund, the IRS says. Heart disease or stroke can cheat you : out of the best years of your life.
