THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 1936 THE WAYNESVILLE MOUNTAINEER if I .WW. All stores in this community will be closed all day Thanksgiving. Drug Stores will observe Sundav Hours. Be Thrifty Years ago one of the coun try's leading business men, told his employees that "It is not what you make that counts, but w.hat you save." The same is true today. It matters not what you make, but what you save. The trend of the times is thrift. He eco nomical. And at this particular sea son of the year, when most of us buy more than at any other time, it is only fitting that we practice thrift, and save as much as possible. Therefore, we suggest, that on EVERY OCCASION, be fore buying anything, that you THOROUGHLY T R Y YOUR LOCAL MERCHANTS FIRST. Don't be misled by claims of out-of-town firms. Don't fall too easily for the highly colored pictures in cat alogs. Don't fall for the catchy phrases of peddlers. Be careful. Get your mon ey's worth, always. And we believe you will find that nearly every time you will save by trading at .home save money time worry and will be better pleased in the end. You will be surprised to find how the business houses in this community are right up to the best of the cities to which you have been sending or have been going to trade. No longer is it necessary to go to cities to get the goods or the services that were for merly r.of available here. We Thank You . . . Thanksgiving Day is more American than even the Fourth of July. It commemorates no' battle anniversary, no conquest, no vic toryunless it be the victory of man's fortitude over despair. It's the day when modern life declares its annual truce with progress When home fires beckon and the mince pie draws the young and old. We, the merchants of this community sincerely appreciate the patronage given us during the past year. We thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts. While we have perhaps fallen short in some instances, we have tried to render you service at all times, and without over-charging for it. May we take this opportunity to not only express our apprecia tion on this Thanksgiving occasion for your patronage, hut to also remind you that all of us working together have made this a better community in which to live. Those of you who have stuck by us have made it possible for us to contribute to worthy causes during the past year which we can now see did more good than we at first thought. We are thankful on this 19:56 Thanksgiving Day for the Loyal Citizens of this county who are interested enough in seeing this county go forward that they have bought their needs from us. It is to these citizens that the community owes its progress. We are thankful that there are so many of them in our midst, and be lieve that if those who now buy out-of-town would only try here first that they would be happy to join the ranks of Loyal Citizens.
