(One Day Nearer Victory) THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 1943 fas t THE WAYNESVILLE MOUNTAINEER Draft Delinquents Urged To Report During This Month A vigorous effort is being made during this month to have all de linquent and suspected delinquents report to their local boards to have charges of delinquency removed, it has been announced by the Way nesville draft board. Those who voluntarily report to their local boards during the month of January, will be allowed to comply with their obligations, but those who fail or refuse to do so will find that their names have been reported to the department cf justice for prosecution. A fine of $10,000 or five years imprison ment, or both, is the penalty fac ing a person convicted of delin quency under the selective service system. To further clarify the require ments, General Metts, state direc tor, has emphasized the following points: 1. Every person who was requir ed to register under any of the s i x Presidential proclamations which have heretofore been issued, except those in the 46-65 year age group, must have in his personal possession at all times a valid notice of Classification in addition to his registration certificate. 2. Upon request, every person required to carry a notice of classi fication must submit his notice to any law enforcement officer, rep resentatives of the secretary of state, the secretary of the treas ury, the attorney general, or any official of the national or state headquarters of selective service, any member of a local appeal board, any government appeal agent, or any other official desig nated by the director of selective service. 3. Every registrant between the ages of 18 and 45 should keep his local board notified of any change of address so that he may be sure that he receives his mail at all times. The local board will have discharged its duty and fully com plied with the regulations if it mails official notices to the regis trant at his last known address, Gentiles Fill Polish Ghetto 'Vacancies' ' ----- ; LrO l3l I VssasfI Osl German soldiers herd before them a number of men from an unknown town in Poland. It matters little whether they are gentile or Jew. They are on their way to the ghetto at Warsaw to fill vacant quarters left by the Nazis systematic extermination of Jews. The fate that awaits these new inhabitants is known only to the Naxis. The photo, received in London through a neutral source, was passed by the censors.
