"And when He had spoken these things, while they beheld, Fie was taken up. and a cloud re ceived Him out of their sight." The disciples gazed steadfastly toward heaven, watching the Lord's ascension, and two per sons in white (angels, 'indmiht edlvl stood by them "Ye men of Galilee," they said, "why stand ye gazing up into heaven'' This same Jcf is. which is tak' n up t rum you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have s.-er. Peter then made a speerh, sug gesting that they must choose a man to take the place of Judas Iseanot. so they would be 12 when they began their ministry after power had been given them. They appointed two men, "Joseph called Barnabas, who was sur named Justus, and Matthias." They prayed for guidance, then drew lots, and the choice fell to Matthias, so he became the twelfth member of the apostles. It is interesting to note how the day of Pentecost changed these men. From looking for the re-establishment of their old king dom of Israel on earth, they turned to the business of found ing the church of Jesus Christ, which was to extend to a great part of the earth and which is for Gentiles as well as Jews. Think of it this little band of 12 men humble and unlearned but inspired of God, with their successors, succeeded in spreading the gospel around the then known world, and it has since traveled i north, south, east and west, througli the immensely larger worm ot loaay, Momions To i 3 till 'At Cherokee T'k- Ciiureh iu' ,Umi Christ of Latter Dav Saints announced today (.oniorence will be held in the: L'hrokoe school auditorium al 10 j a. in. and 2 o'cloc!; Sunday, Twenty-live luissiou.irie , a rep-1 ion prcsi- ! -.t will .(tend these ineeiins.
