The man told Jesus that his little daughter was desperately ill at the point of d e a t hr and begged Him to come and lay His hands on her that she might live. On the way, surrounded by crowds of people, JesuS felt that; someone must have touched Him, ' and asked who it was. It was a t woman whom all the physicians had failed, to heal, and she was sure, even if she could not get close to Him, if she touched the hem of His garment, she would h&vc relief When the Lord asked who had touched Him, she came and knelt before Him, and told Him it was she. Quickly Jesus hastened to the house, and entered the room full of weeping and wailing people. When Jesus came in, He said to them, "Why make ye thia ado, and weep ? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth." ' They laughed at Him, but Jesus, going into the room where the child lay, took her hand and said, "Damsel, 1 say unto thee, arise." , "And straightway,, the damsel t arose and walked. . . . And they were astonished with a great as-! tonishment." Jesus told all to tell . no one, but commanded that they j give the girl something to eat. This occurred at Capernaum. Returning to His Home town, Jesus preached fn the synagogue, but His old neighbor could not believe that this Boy who had grown up in their midst, could preach with such authority. Jesus remarked that "a prophet is not without honor, but in His own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house," and He "marveled because of their un belief. " mil ki1' wm S III 7m : IP ft HI ASH :1 ill What some people take for granted, others are thankful for! That's why some people never find happiness, and others never lose it! Years ago, a Teacher amazed his con temporaries with the statement that "a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth." And His followers, through the centuries, have dis covered that only spiritual awareness can enable us to appreciate physical and mate rial blessings. "I am come," said this Jesus of Naza reth, "that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." His Way of life, and the Truth He taught these, then, are the foundations of an abund ant Hie. The churches of our community are today's teachers of His Way and His Truth. Some people may take those Churches for granted, but you can be thankful for them. One of them is going to enrich your life whichever one you choose.
