Jesus answered that that very night, before the cock crew twice Peter would deny Him. They came to Gethsemane, and Jesus asked the three to sit and watch while He prayed, for He was exceedingly sorrowful. He threw Himself c tha gfound and begged His Father in Heaven, that if it were possible this bitter, suffering which He foresaw, should pass from Him: "Never theless not what I will, but what Thou wilt " Returning to His friends, He found them asleep, and He said, Salvation Army P. A third time Jesus prayed and resigned Himself to God's will, and when He came to His friends He told them. "Rise up and let us go: Jo. he that betray eth Me is at hand." Immediately they were sur rounded ty chief priests and sol diers, and Judas went to His Mas ter and kissed Him not through love, but to show His enemies that H was the man they sought. Did the disciples defend Him? Did they go with Him when He was led away One, indeed, drew a sword and cut off an ear of a servant of the high priest, for which Jesus reproved him. Then all fled but Peter, who followed his Master at a distance. Jesus was brought before the council of the Sanhedrin. and false witnesses testified against Him, but they didn't agree in their testimony. Jesus own answer to the chief priest condemned Him, for He said He was "the Son of Man" which was considered blas phemy. Someone recognized Peter as a companion of Jesus, but he denied it three times, only to hear a cock crow twice. Realizing that he had done what Jesus had foretold. Church Of God 1 HAZELWOOD The Rev. But is there really anything wrong with this boy that religious training wouldn't have cured? Long ago, if given the chance, the Church could have begun to mold his character along noble lines. A Christian home, Chris tian teachers and Christian pals could have kept him away from the alley on a high road.- ' One of the priceless opportunities Amer ica offers her children is the advantage of religious training, A child cannot accept this opportunity himself. It is up to his par ents to recognize its essential value, and to cooperate with and support the Church in its life-building work. kff t f lltL . - " 4 v K II .. u c -ui'- t i--'JV f FW Jar , , nil i HIT"!
