James Young Pern, Jr., will be conducted at drace Church 111 the Mountains. Wednesday morn ing, Deeerpber 15, at 10.30. This will be the second ordination to the priesthood ever conducted in the history of the 86-year-old church. Several prominent clergymen are coming to Waynesville from distant points to take part in this impressive and unusual service. The ordination "itself will be eon ducted by the Rt. Rev. M. George Henry. Bishop of Western North Carolina, who will also administer the sacrament of Holy Commun ion. The Rev. Moultrie Guerrv, rec tor of Old St. Paul's Church, Nor folk, will give the sermon. He is the uncle of Rev. J\lr. Perry. The Rev. H. Roger Sherman, St. An drews, Canton, will present the candidate and the Rev. Howard Ifickey, St. Georges Episcopal Church, West Ashevilie, will he the Litanist. Reader.Of the Epistle will be the Rev. John Lodge, Athens. Tenn ; and Reader of the Gospel, the Rev. P R. Bailor . Following three years of seminary, which is a graduate school after college work, a man becomes a deacon unon successfully passing a set of examinations. Appointment of chairmen of committees in the Waynesville Ki wanis Club were announced by President Hye Sheptowitch at an organizational meeting for 1955 last week at Spaldon's. Citv council has amended the ! law against discharging firearms in the city limits to permit police men to shoot pigeons. Marines Open For Immediate Enlistments ? T/Sgt. Joseph H. Lathrop, local i Marine Corps recruiter, announced today that the U. S. Marines are j again open for immediate enlist : ment. There no longer is a waiting j list and qualified young men and women may be transferred immedi-; ately to Parris Island, S.C. for basic training. Sgt. Lathron explained that basic training or boot camp is for a period of 10 weeks, after which | the young Marine is allowed a 10 day leave to return home and visit1 his parents and friends. Also on the completion of Boot Camp the Ma-: rine is eligible for one of 140 j trade and vocational schools that j train Marines for more than 470 skilled ]#bs. These jobs are on land, sea or in the air. There are also openings in the aviation cadet program and tor assignment to duty at sea. Sgt. Lathrop will be at the Waynesville post office each Thurs day to interview young men and women that are interested in an enlistment with the Marines. Sgt.
