J. P. Hodges arrived last week from San Salvador to Join Mrs. Hodges here for the Christmas holidays. Mrs. Hodges met him in Charlotte where they have been visiting for several days. COATS ' REDUCED! S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Millard Wells of Can ton. Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Kirst Methodist Church in Can ton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev.- Ivon L. Roberts, pas tor of the church. A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. Gudger Duckett, organist, and Mrs Charles Gidney, Jr . and Darrell Hawkins, vocalists. The bride, given hi marriage by her father, wore a gown of hand clipped, imported rose point laee and tulle over satin. The fitted bodice was fashioned with a por trait neckline and long tapered sleeves. The bouffant lace skirt was emphasized with a' pleated dust ruffle of tulle, and a cascade of ruffles furmed the chapel length train. Her finger tip veil of im ported illusion fell from a Juliet cap of lace trimmed with seed pearls. She carried a white Bible encrusted with tiny seed pearls and topped with a white orchid. Mrs. Charles Hannah of Raleigh was her sister's matron of hoiior. Her gown or orchid lace and net over taffeta was designed with a fitted bodice and a full skirt inset with lace. The matching jacket of lace featured a Queen Anne col lar. Her headdress was a tiny cap of shirred net, and she carried a colonial bouquet of mixed (lowers. Bridesmaids were Miss Margaret Ann Gidney, sister of the bride. Mrs. Dan Kelly, Mrs. Carroll Powell, Mrs. V. E. Bryson, Mrs. Don Stiles, and Miss Elsie Sher rill, all of Canton. Their gowns and headdresses of rose, mint green, and gold were identical in design to that of the honor attend ant. They also carried colonial bouquets. Honorary bridesmaids were Mrs. Tom Hyatt, Mrs. W. G. Byers, Jr., Mrs. Kobcrt Phillips, Miss Martha Gean Moore, and Miss Donna Robeson. Miss Pamela l'less and Miss Sandra Mann were flower girls. They wore pink taffeta gowns and net bonnets, and they carried bas kets of rose petals. Ned Brown of Canton, brother in-law of the bridegroom, served as best man. Ushers were: Charles Gidney, Jr., Joe Wells, brother of the bridegroom, Charles Hannah of Raleigh. Richard Hannah, Dan Kelly, and La Rue Amos, of Can ton. Following the eeremonv a recep tion was held at the home of the bride's parents. Those assisting in serving were: Mrs. II. W. Stiles, j Miss Klizabeth Styles, Mrs. Ned; Brown, Mrs. Joe Wells, and also i the honorary bridesmaids. After the reception the couple | left for a wedding trip. For travel ing the bride wore a wool suit of j cadet blue with black accessories and.the orchid from her Bible. Mrs. Wells was graduated from 1 [ Canton High School and Blanton's Business College. She is employ ed in the Industrial Relations Do- ! partment of the Carolina Division I ! of the Champion Paper and Fibre I i Company. Mr. Wells was gradu ated from Canton High School, and has served in the U. S. Navy ! during the past three and one-half years. Presently he is stationed at i Long Beach, California.
