The demonstration on "plan ning for Christmas" was given by j Miss Mary Cornwell, after which ' a Christmas party was enjoyed. Kefreshments were served and gifts were exchanged. Gifts were also presented to the home agents. * * * Mrs. Purcell Is Seriously 111 Word was re.eived here today of the critical illness of Mrs. Eugene Purcell of St. Petersburg. Florida. Mrs. Purcell and her family have been annual summer visitors to Waynesvi-lle for many years. For several summers she was a guest at the Dunham House. Home'makers Entertain Husbands i The Wavnesville Homemakers held their annual husbands' party last Saturday evening in the home ot Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Bridges. Mrs. Carl Kalclit'fe, Mrs. Charles Isiey, and Mrs. Jimmy Williams were co-hostesses. Games and stunts featured the entertainment following dinner and gifts were exchanged. The tables at which the guests were seated were centered with ar- ] rangements of red candles and Christmas greens and place cards were in the shape of trees. Special guests were Miss Jean Childers and Miss Elsie Palmer. : New officers of the club were introduced as follows: Mrs. H. O. Champion, president; Mrs. John Nesbitt, vice president; Mrs. Bruce Jaynes, secretary; Mrs. Lawrence Leatherwood, treasurer; Mrs. Charles lslev, historian; Mrs. Harry McCracken, secretary of records; and Mrs. Carl Ratcliffe, chairman of Achievement Day plans for 1955. * * * Methodist Sunday School Has Party , A Christmas party in the form I of a covered dish supper was held by the Sunday School Department ; of the First Methodist Churc hlast night in the church dining room. W. S. Roberts, superintendent of the Sunday School, was master of i ceremonies. The tables were decorated with large red candles and holly and a Christmas tree w'as featured in the room. Special music was presented by a quartet composed of Mrs. . Clyde Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lee Liner, Jr., and Tom Davis. J Mrs. M. H. Bowles played piano selections and accompanied group J in the singing of Christmas carols. Gifts were1 presented to the!
