New Members Of Beta Sigma Phi Honored At Tea The Alpha Theta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi honored their new mem bers and the Xi Omlcron chapter with a tea Sunday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock in the home of Mrs. Herbert" Turner. Greeting the guests at the door were Mis. J. T, Russell and Mrs. Turner. Mrs. Donald Morrow iuvited the guests to the dining iu^om and Mrs. T. L. Gwyn presided at the tea table. A yellow and green color scheme was carried out in the flower ar rangements and refreshments. The new members who were hon ored included Mrs. Leroy Walradd, Mrs. M. ,H. McAulay. Mrs. J. W. The fruit will be delicious With a filling of ham. chicken or cheese. Mrs. T. V. Moore, Summer Resident, Taken By Death Mrs. T. V. Moore. 79, of Miami. Fla., and a summer visitor here for many years, died in a Miami hos pital October 7. Funeral services were held Tues day, October 9 in the Trinitt Meth odist Church of Miami followed by private graveside services at Mi ami City Cemetery. The Kev. Joseph A. Mrs. Moore was a native of Wheeler. W. Va. Since 1901 she has been an aggressive leader in many phases of community life in Mi ami. With equal enthusiasm she worked f? r hospitals and libraries, was prominent in charity and wet fare drives, in politics, in women's organizations, in civic affairs and in church work. Her husband, who was known as this country's "Pineapple King" died in 1927. Survivors include two sons, Theodore W. Moore and T, \'. Moore; a daughter. Mrs. Pauline Fussell. 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, all of Miami. Miss Rich Dies [n Hazelwood Miss Elizabeth Wheaton Rich lied Friday at her home in llaz ? I wood. Miss Rich had made her home in Hazelwood for the past ten years, residing with her sister. Mrs. Laura B. Lawrence. She was born in Mount Vernon, N. Y., and lived there until coming to Hazelwood. She was a member of the Episcopal Church. The funeral service was conduct ed i.n the home Sunday afternoon by lh? Rev James Y Perry, Jr., rector of Grace Episcopal Church. Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Lawrence, is a brother. Walter W. Rich of New London. N. H Mrs. John Jeffords Died At Florida Home Mrs. John R Jeffords of Clear water. Fla., who had been a regu lar .summer visitor to Waynesville for the past fifty years died at her home Thursday following a brief illness Funeral services were held in Clearwater on Saturday, Mrs. Jeffords and her husband who died a few years ago and was an orange grower in Florida, spent many years as guests at Mrs. R. H. Blackwelt's guest home here. Mrs Jeffords is survived by two nieces. The farmers will visit Purdue University at Lafayette, Ind., Iowa State College, the University of Wisconsin and Michigan Staic Uni versity.
