BTU Mass Meeting Monday, Dec; 6, the Eastern As sociatlonal Training Union Mass Meeting was 'held in the Magnolia Baptist church! Praise and Prayer service was conducted by Rev G Van Stephens. Special music was rendered by the Warsaw Junior Choir. Misses' Mary Ellis and Betty West sang a duet. Conferences were held for all departments. Island Creek Church won the attendance banner. Plans for 1949 were presented and Rev. J. C. Cammack brought the message of inspiration. Circles Meet Presbyterian The Sallie Faison Peirce Circle met Monday evening with Mrs. I. M. Peirce and 13 present Mrs. B. C Sheffield presided and Miss Sal- Jfle Bowden presented the program. -Circle No. 2 met Monday after noon with Mrs. L. R. Albertson with 9 present and Mrs. E. W. Stevens presiding. ' Circle No. 3 was entertained the same afternoon in the home of Mrs. Bill Sheffield with Mrs. Jimmy Kitchin in the chair. Baptist Mrs. James Sutton entertained the YMA Thursday night with 15 present. She read the devotionals and presented the program with the assistance of several others An el ection of officers was held with Mrs. Paul Britt, Pres.; Mrs. G. H. Best. Secty., and Mrs. Bill Boy ette as Treas. The Philathea Class met Thurs day evening in the home of Mrs. Milford Quinn with Mrs. Paul Britt assisting and 21 present. The Class is sponsoring the small Jr. Choirs and are ready to make the vestments. The Rosa Hocutt Powell Circle met Monday with Mrs. Rosa Pow ell and Mrs. D. T. Chambers pre siding and 19 present The Ruby Daniels Circle met on Monday with Mrs. G. Van Stephens and 10 present. Miss Betty Loftln presided. The George Rollins Circle met Monday with Mrs. Paul Berry and Mrs. B. W. Pickett in the chair. The Annie Kate Powell and Ka tie Murray Circles met jointly on Monday evening in the home of Miss Annie Kate Powell, Miss Mary Mary Hester Powell and Mrs. Kathleen Snyder as joint hostesses and 35 present Mrs. Edgar Pollock presided. Refreshments were served at all of these circle meetings. During progressions candles were served and when scores were tallied Mrs. Robert Blackmore re ceived Xmas cards for ladies high and Avon Sharp received candy for men's high. For low awards Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Jordan received nail clippers and a set of novelty candles. The hostess served a dessert with fruit cake. Mrs. Paul Potter was hostess on Wednesday afternoon with two ta bles in play. Upon arrival straw berry shortcake and coffee were ser vcd. Mrs. Robert Blackmore recei ved high score and Mrs. Wilbur Garner second high. Mrs. Allen Draughon received low. Mrs. George Clarke entertained Friday evening with club high go ing to Mrs. Momon Barr, and Mrs. Frank Hobbs receiving visitors ligh. Miss Nora Blackmore captur ed traveling prize. Cokes, mints and nuts were served during play and a chicken salad course at the end. Mrs. Jimmy Kitchin was hostess Thursday afternoon with two tables and when scores were added Joyce Burton received Xmas cards for high and Santa Claus candles for traveling award. Coca colas and nuts were served during play and a salad, course with cheese straws pickles and coffee at the conclu sion. Mrs. Daulton West was hostess Friday evening with two tables at play. At the conclusion Mrs. Hector , McNeil received an apron for niga traveling award. Apple sauce cake topped with cream, and coffee was served. Mrs. Tom Aikens entertained on Thursday evening with high score going to Mrs. Belton Minshew and second high to Mrs. Robert Lewis. Mrs. M. B. Lassater held traveling. During play Cokes and nuts were served and at the conclusion apple pie-a-la-mode. GA's To Present Coronation On Sunday evening, Dec. 12 at 8 o'clock p.m. in the Warsaw Baptist Church the Junior Girls Auxilitary will present their 2nd annual coro nation and recognition service. The leader and her associates have done a wonaerrui worK during me past year and it is at this service that the fruits of their efforts will be partially shown. The public is in vited to attend. Announce Birth Mr. and Mrs. John H. Carter, Jr. of Klnston, announce the birth of a daughter, Sue Flowers, on Nov. 17th at General Memorial Hospital in Kinston. Mr. Carter was formerly of, Warsaw. Personals Nephews were pallbearers and granddaughters and nieces were flower girls. Surviving are her husband, four sons, Harley B. of Mt Olive, Mark of San Diego, Calif., Oscar of Hen dersonville, and Walter of Wal bridge, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. R. W. Jones of Asheville, Mrs. D. B. West of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. C. E. Ryan of Palm Beach, Fla.: five brothers, Marion, L. L., Herbert and Harrison Moore all of Hendersohville and Lennie Moore of Greenville, S. C; two sisters, Mrs. H. H. Moore of Jacksonville, Fla.,' and Mrs. James Bishop of Hendersonville. Engagement Mr and Mrs. Lamori H Kennedy announce the engagement and ap proaching marriage of their dau ghter, Iris, to Cary Powell of Du plin County. Mother Duplin Man Dies Hendersonville Funeral services for Mrs. Adella Moore Smith, 68, who died Friday at her home on Hebron Street after an Illness of several years, were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. She was the wife of E.
