: Adjutant of American Legion Indianapolis, Ind. William E. Sayer, of Indianapolis, has been ap pointed as assistant national adjut ' ant of the American Legion by .National Commander G. N. Craig, effective immediately. Sayer, for 16 years department adjutant of the Indiana American Legion, succeeded Joseph E. Rab inovich of Grand Forks, N. D., In the national post. William F. Hauck, 32-year-old disabled veteran wounded in action overseas, was named state adjutant - to succeed Sayer. Hauck had been assistant state adjutant since July 26,1945. Sayer served in both World wars. A native of Chicago, 111., he mov ed: to Indianapolis In boyhood. He was,, graduated from . Shortrldge High School and received his A.B. degree from Wabash College. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Army overseas during World War I. He was an Air Force major for two and a half years fn World War II. . A charter member of the Burton Woolery Post 18 at Bloomington, Ind., of which Past National Com' mander Paul V. McNutt is also a member, Sayer was named Ind' iana department adjutant. The Georgia Am erican Legion headed by Depart ment Commander George Hearn of Monroe, has launched a campaign to encourage veterans of World War II to Invest a share of their National Service Life Insurance dividends in U. S. Savings Bonds. Commander Hearn bas sent let ters to officers of more than 300 Georgia posts asking the state's 63,000 Legionaires to help distri bute information on purchase of j government savings Bonds. It is estimated that the 286,000 Georgia veterans of World War II will get more than $50,000,000 in ftSLI refunds during the next six months. Commander Hearn. has pointed out that if one-half of this sum is invested In savings bonds, it will be an "investment in secur ity" for Georgia veterans and the'r families.
