Evans pre siding. ' : v- The meeting opened by singing "America The- Beautiful." Mrs. Wendell Evans led the devotional reading, the 13th chapter of 1 Cor inthians followed by prayer. Min utes of the last meeting were' read and approved. The roH call fol lowed .and the treasurers report was given. Mrs. J. N. Home took names of members wishing to make aluminum trays and will order the necessary material. An . interesting an dhelpful talk was given, by Mrs. M. Tv Tucker, home beautification leader, on the general care of plants. Each mem ber was given a .leaflet' entitled, "What Makes Your Yard Beauti ful." .i:,iVr;v."5,.'v-. .':V...; . Community service leader,- Mrs. J.' D. Everett gave a very interest ing talk on "Women's Part In Civil- Defense," the main topic being "Preparation in Case of Invasion." G. Turner co-hostess. - The "meeting -was -called to order by the president Mrs. L. E. Pope. The minutes ot the last meeting were read and roll was called by the secretary, Mrs. L. G. Turner. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Melvin Pope. A committee was- appointed to buy a book and make plans tor a minstrel to be given in the near future. On this ' committee were Mrs'. Emmet Sasser, Mrs. Roscoe Potter and Mrs. N. T. Pickett. The club voted to put on a rum mage sale and bazaar to raise mon ey to help Ilnisn-tne nro nouso. Date set for the sale? was Satur day. For recreation there was a St. Patrick's contest a quiz, with all the answers to be found' n the word "Shamrock." Mrs. v J. C Chestnut was winner- and was aw- araea a prize. At the close of the meeting the hostesses served lemon- pie and cof fee.
