But the word went Out today for farmers to order their supply early. Our County farm agent for .the State College Extension Service, re minded farmers that there fre quently are spot shortages of cer tain favored materials - even in a year of good over-all supply. "The best way to have the right type and the desired amount of fertili zer available when it is needed is to order early." Tar Heel farmers used 1,850,000 tons of fertilizer during the 1952-53 crop year, slightly less than the are ceeding year. The state's agricul tural leaders have urged farmers to continue to boost their yields by applying plant food "where it is needed in the quantity it is- needed." He says that with sound fertilizer management this year farmers need not worry too much about declin ing farm prices. The county agent says a recent USDA report indicates that fertili zer suppled over the nation- win be up 11 per cent for the? 1957-ffC crop Get low cost Farm Bureau auto insurance save up to 25 .
