Holds ' Meeting In Fireside Room The General ' Meeting of the Woman's Society of Christian Ser vice met in the1 Fireside Room of the Methodist Church Monday even ing with eighteen present. Mrs. Q. 3. Sutton, president, pre sided over the business session. The secretary's report was given by Mrs. Robert Minton. Mrs. Sanford Packer led the de votional. Circle Number Four was in charge of the program "Women in the Rural Community" with Mrs. Frank Hobbs, Mrs. E. E. Jones, Mrs. Belton Minshew, Mrs. Paul Hunter and Mrs. Robert Minton taking part. Mrs. Sutton closed the meeting with prayer. Rotary Club Meets Thursday The Rotary Club held their week ly meeting at Carlton's Pond Tues day with A. M. Benton, president. presiding. Mr. Benton gave eacn committee man a list of his duties. The out going fellowship chairman, Hivers Johnson, Jr., presented D. J. Riven oai-k, Jr, and James F. Strickland with anniversary gifts from the club. The following committee was ap pointed to make plans for 'Farmer's Night": Ed Strickland, James F. Strickland and E. C. Thompson. Baptist Choir Enjoy Picnic At Draiighan's The Baptist Choir enjoyed a pic nic supper served buffet style Fri day night on the lawn at Mr. and Mrs. Allen Draughan's home. Tables were covered with red checked tablecloths. The menu consisted of fried chicken, potato salad, 'pickles, sandwiches, iced tea, fresh peach ice cream and home made pound cake decorated with a music staff and notes. After supper a musical term con test was played with Mrs. Paul Potter winner. Enjoying the fellowship were: Mr and Mrs. Glenn Brown, Mrs. James F. Strickland, Mrs. Sam Parker, Mrs. John Fonvielle, Mrs. Nelson Carlton, Mrs. Paul Potter, Misf Fannie Wilson, Lee Brown, Bill Fountain, Glenn Rollins, Ed Strick land, Mr. Taylor, Rivers Johnson. Jr., Mrs. Glendora Brown, Mrs. Betty Barnes, Susan and Calvin Miss B. Jones Honors Miss Bovn ' Miss Jeanene Brown, bride-elect, was honored on Thursday evening when Miss Barbara Jones entertain ed at a bridge and canasta party. Artistic arrangements of summer flowers were used in the decora tions. Miss Brown was given crystal In her chosen pattern. Miss Betty West, bride-elect, was also remembered with dinnerware. Mrs. Arnold Jones was given a baby bib. Prize win ners were: Bridge High, hand lo tion, Miss Doris Degister; Second High, stationery, and traveling, ash tray, Miss Sue Shine; Canasta high, hand lotion and bingo, artificial flowers, Miv Brown. Others playing included: Mrs. Earl Huie, Mrs. John A. Johnson, Mrs. Bill Taylor, Miss Hazel Mat thews, Miss Shirley Shine and Miss Carolyn Carr. The hostess served frozen pine apple salad. Letters and cards have come from Bay side, Virginia; Linden, Laurin burg, Fayetteville, Elizabeth City, Warrenton, Lexington, Warsaw, and White Lake in North Carolina; Orangeburg, Aiken, Charleston, and Kingstree in South Carolina; and Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. Thursday Breakdown WNCT left the air last Thursday to re-construct one portion of the coaxial cable which connects the antenna to the transmitter.
