In many homes, both parent are working, some having the children provided for in licens ed day care centers. 2 Tor most older peoplet the t ami Jy pattern has changed materially since the living arrangements were established in the middle years at life. Many people need to change their living arrangement in" their - later years, not only because their family and economic circumstances sire different; but also because their ; own needs have changed. The county department of public welfare renders service to older people by supplying Information a bout available specialized boarding home care in licensed homes. FtoW" ' Practically all sunfish are popular win inose wno dot not take their fishing too seriously. They have the gameness one could ask ! of : any fish of similar size. They bite readi ly, are good to Sat an4 reproduce abundantly. They are hardly where many other fishes could not survive. There are a number of subspecies of the lonsear sunfish In thi. .r.- cies the back fin is lower than in the blUegiU sunfish or the mimnkln seed with which they might be con tused. Possibly the most effective character used in identification is the long black ear flan. In the tirnnt Lakes longear; sunfish this flap is conspicuous because of broad red margin at the rear. In the Missis. sippi longer sunfish the flap is a pale blue border. The former sel dom grows to a length of 4 inches while the latter may reach twice that length. ;. ' . : The Great Lakes subspicles ranges from Minnesota through the Great Lakes area to .Quebec. The Missis sippi longear is found in the Ala bama. Mississippi, Ohio and Tennes see rivers aad their tributaries. Other subspecies range to the south west of theses areas. Thesi; sunfish favor Quieter Streams and lasMS where there is an abundance of vegetation in which they can find shelter and from which thay may collect the insects and other small animals that make up the bulk of their food: They particularly favor-, ,insect larvae. In any case the female assumes little responsibility for the familv or the familv hnma wMlo th. male takes over every responsibility eSccept that of laying the eggs which he obviously cannot do. The male stays by the nest fan ning silt from them and keeping away marauding minnows and oth er fish which might eat the eggs or young- Eventually the young fish shift for themselves but they may remain in small schools for a rnn. siderable time either under the pro tection of the male or on an inde pendent basis. All sunfish are Interesting either in a pond or stream, in an aquarium or on the end of a line. They take worms for bait most frequently but will take trout flies on occasion. If you happen to be a fisherman who fishes just for the fun of it and nnt for the purpose of smelling up the frying pan or having a bite to eat. there are few fish that offer mnw fun than sunfish if they are sought properly. This means fishing for them with artificial baits that are kept moving and then hnnVa fmm which the barbs have been removed. Light tackle and barbless hooks and a spirit of soortsmanshiD ioinlns a fisherman to his sunfish practically guarantee an interesting outing. Jj. juaurence Palmer rielhcdToKHI Rats And Mice '.'
