Carrboro News -By Mrs. Ira Mann Thanks From Club Members of the Carrboro Civic Club wish to sincerely thank every one who contributed in any way to the supper sponsored by the club on last Saturday in the school lunch room at the Carr boro School and the Amateur Hour and Talent Show which fol lowed the supper in the school auditorium including games and contests. The’'occasion was quite a successful venture for the club and the members as a body wish to thank every one who helped in any way. and to express their appreciation in this way. ■■■—-d Back From Vacation Mr. and Mrs. William Clark of Oak Ave. in Carrboro recently returned from—a vacation trip. They were accompanied by their children, Roger, Barbara, Billy, Patricia and Raymond. They vis ited relatives in Pennsylvia and Rochester, N. Y., staying most of the time with Mr. and Mrs. Ar I thur Morgan of Horn ell, N. Y., who are Mrs. Clark's parents and with Mrs. Laura Clark, of Ro chester, who is Mr. Clark’s mo- I ther. They were near the scene j of the disastrous gas explosion in Rochester ■ when 40 expensive homes were greatly damaked by the explosion. Sixteen homes were completely distroyed and blown away. Eight persons were killed and sixty injured iby the gas ex plosion. None of them .however were relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Clark. -o Revival Revival Services will begin next Sunday October 14, at the Carr boro Baptist Church, and will continue each evening all next week with services beginning at 7:30 each evening. The pastor, thi Rev. Troy E. Jones will be assisted in these services by the Rev. Charles Smith, pastor of the Yates Baptist Church of Durham. The Rev. Mrs. Troy Wrerin was honored at a miscellaneous shower on last Friday evening at the Methodist Church Hut, in Carrboro. Hostes ses for {he occasion were Mrs. I Kelly Davis and Mrs. J. E. Tripp. Many useful and lovely gifts were showered upon the honoree and at the close of the evening deli cious refreshments (were served the large number of friends and neighbors present. . -o Attend Cellebration Mr. and Mrs. Clarence McFarl ing and their son, Rodney, of Carrboro attended the birthday celebration at Mrs. Blannie But ner, last Sunday held at her home in Pittsboro. A.’s of which the Rev. Troy E. Jones is leader met on Monday afternoon at the church. On Monday even ing the Minnie ‘Durham Circle of the Missionary met with Mrs. Ed na Pendergraft at her h^me near Carrboro. Also on Monday even ing the Florence Lide Circle met with Mrs. Bob Ray at her home on Weaver Road. On Tuesday aft ernoqji, the Ann McDade Circle met with Mrs. Nellie Williams on with Mrs. W. E. Williams in charge of the program. On Tues day evening the Young Woman’s Auxiliary met with Mrs. H. C. Riggsbee on Lindsay Street in Carrboro. W. S. |C. S. Meets The regular monthly meeting of the Woman's Society: cut Chris tian Service of the Carrboro Methodist Church, met at- the home of Misses Frances and Eu genia Hearne on Greensboro St. in Carrboro. Mrs. Bob Watson was in charge of the program. S., held, in the Trinity Methodist Church in Durham last Saturday.
