Town triples in size during decade . . . Chapel Hill has 50 more acres rne Town of Chapel Hill has added 50 more acres to its mun icipal belt-line in the annexation ot another east-side residential subdivision. This latest in a dozen annexa tions over the last decade brings the size of the muncipal ity to about 2,500 acres-«of ap proximately three times the size cl the town in 1950. How ever municipal officials . said a precise measurement of the size c-f the town with the new annexations is not yet available. At their Monday evening meet ing the Town aldermen unani mously annexed the ~ 50-acre Ridgefield Extension subdivi sion, a 100-lot tract east of High way 25-501 bypass, owned by Security Homes. Realtor John Foushee, speaking for the de veloper, said that all improve ments—sewer and water lines, paving, and curbing—were be ing installed in the area at no expense to the town. A legal hearing oft annexation of the tract was held at the pe tition of the property owner last May, thus clearing the way for this week’s annexation. Con vStruction of four out of 20 houses planned in the initial develop ment phase is scheduled to start next week. In s. similar annexation last month the Board brought in the 220-acre Coker Hills sector that is curently being developed. The Board’s Fuiance Committee is GRANGE TO MEET The Orange Coounty Pomona Grange will meet at Schley Grange Hall next Monday night, at 8 Woods announced. Plans will be o'clock Grange Master Harry made for attending the State Grange Convention at Southern Pines the following week. Resolu tions for presentations to the State Grange are invited. Offi cers for 1961 will be installed. The Board has directed Town Manager Thomas £>.. In addition, at the request of Oakwood Drive residents, the al dermen formally asked the Com mission to build an access cross' over drive through the 16-foot median of the highway at Qak wood.
