Exchange pool opens June 15 Chapel Hill’s new Exchange Swimming- Pool, almost complet ed, will open June 15, “if all goes, well,” il has been an nounced toy Herb Holland. ; “The decking around the pool is still to be poured and a few other minor things remain to be done,” said Hollandi “Should take, about 5-7 working days on the pool. The bath-house is well on . its way and is expected to be completed in 15 working days.” The new pool is located off to the left of the Airport Road, just past the Ranch House, on a two.. - acre tract of land. "We still have between 55-70 lifetime family memberships open,” said Holland, “These membershpis are transferable and can be re-sold, subject to the board’s approval.” Retiring professors honored at banquet A banquet in honor of two re tiring professors of public health nursing of the University of North Carolina School of Public Health was given here over the weekend. The two veteran educators in the field of public health nursing, are Miss Ruth Hay and Miss Margaret Blee. Both have been on the UNC faculty since the Department of (Public Health Nursing was established in 1941 Several cited, elected by N. C. Heart Assn. Three Chapel -HiUians have been elected to three - year terms as directors of the North Carolina Heart Association; Carl. Durham, President of the Orange County Heart Council; Dr,- Floyd Denny, Chairman of Pediatrics Department in the UNC Medical School; and James Lane, of the Memorial Hospital ■** stalf, who was also named State Treasurer. Also, during the Association convention J.n, Raleigh last week, Mrs. Mary F. Nies of Chapel Hill became the 16th recipient of the North Carolina Heart As sociation’s distinguished sefyice medallion. This recognized her service as public relations direc tor of the group from 1956 through last month. Ck K. Corn well of Chapel Hill was awarded the Association’s founders award for his service Chapel Hill Hegrt Fund Chairman this past year. The banquet was attended by members of the faculty of the School of Public Health, Univer sity of North Carolina officials and both former and present students who were taught by-the two professors.___ A recent article in a profes sional journal said of the two women, “Throughout the two decades of their service to (North Carolina in public health nurs ing, Miss Hay and Miss Blee have built one of the region’s outstanding collegiate programs in public health nursing and, have extended their contribution beyoud the college campus through participation In profes sional organizations,, extension courses and leadership and teaching in other collegiate mus sing programs.” Before coming to- UNC Miss Hay served on the faculties of the University of Califodnia, Western Reserve University and VanderbiLt University. Miss Blee was on the faculty of the Uni versity of California before ioin ing the UNC ‘faculty. '' — NOW MEETING HERE The annual meeting of the N. C. Hospital Association began yesterday with a business meet ing and election, of officers at the Carolina Inn. The Associa tion, meeting for three days at the University, is headed by Dr. •Robert R. Cadmus, Director of N. C. Memorial Hosptial.
