Auction, Day Of Fun Set
The Cooleemee Jaycees and
Jaycettes will sponsor an auction sale
and "day of fun" at the ball field
on Saturday, August 10, at 10 a.m.
Hie rain date will be August 24.
. Among the items to be auctioned
include a '55 Dodge, wicker chairs,
an old plow, a set of blue fruit jars,
a rare Nu-Grape bottle and other bot
tles, mfik cans, Aladdin lamps,
washing machines, bed, chairs and
antique furniture.

Gnats, and pony rides.
The Mooresville Sky Divers will
wind up the day of fun with a spec
tacular acrobatic act while free falling
and parachuting onto the ball field..

Post Office Closes
Window Service
On Saturdays
Window service will be discontinued at the
Cooleemee Post Ofice on Saturday, effective July
Postmaster Bill White said the curtailment of
service would be initiated to comply with limitations
imposed by Public Law 90-364, which is part of
the economy move voted by congress in connection
with the recent tax increase.
Postmaster White pointed out, however, that
mail will continue to "be deposited in post office
boxes on Saturdays as usual. Marl also will be
collected and dispatched as scheduled. No changes
will be made in window service hours Monday
through Friday.
Edgar Bowers Dies
Of Wounds In War
Specialist Edgar Bowers, 20,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Overt W.
' Bowers of 1 Church Street, died
Wednesday at 7 a.m. of wounds
suffered on Sunday, July 14,
in Vietnam.
He was the first Cooleemee
soldier to give his life for his
country in the war in Vietnam.
He was married to the former
Nancy Lee Owen of Mt. Ulla.
Funeral service for Specialist
Bowers arc incomplete. The body
is to arrive from Vietnam at
baton's Funeral Home today.

Jack Moody, 11, Dies;
Retired Office Manager
Jack Owen Moody, 77, retired
office manager of I rwin Mills,
died Tuesday at 1:25 a.m. at the
Davie Hospital. He was stricken
with a heart attack Monday after
noon at his home at 27 fcrwin St.
He was born Feb. 25, IWI,
in Marion County, S. C., the
•on of the kale Richard end
Sarah Jackson Moody. A
veteran of World War I, he
wss a member of the Cooieemee
Methodist Church and the
Mocksvilie Masonic Lodge.
