In discussing plans for the new season, J. Y. Jr. was enthusiastic about prospects for the 1942 season, and stated that all arrangements and necessary renovation of Monk's huge warehouses, No. 1 and No. 2, have been made, and that this firm is better prepared to take care of its growing patronage and to guarantee customers satisfaction than ever before. Mr. Rouse is recognized as a valuable and outstanding member of this market's group of warehousemen. - " • This ajliance of business associates gives the Farmville market one of the strongest warehouse firms in the entire belt. The loyalty of old friends to this warehouse also attracts many new patrons each season, and the firm's pride in their reputation acts as a constant incentive that keeps every member and their associates, on the floor and in the office, on their tiptoes throughout the season in order that sales may hold up to a satisfying level from the opening through the closing day. For the 5th year, Monk's warehouse will operate a second house, which enables the firm to satisfy the increasing patronage and its demands. Both houses are modern in construction and equipment and have every facility that insures a good showing of the festf, and prompt, efficient service in its handling and sale. The houses are located on diagonal corners on Wilson street The auctioneering this season will be ably performed here by Jim Ed JOHNNIE CARLTON I -.f wards and Jack Rogers, who have VINlWI **"IU ^ ^7 *" been associated with Monk' ware house for many yean in this capacity. Mrs. Venia C. Edmundson, of Greenville, Pitt County WPA worker and manager of the Farmville Canning Grater, had all hands busy blanching and peeling tomatoes on Wednesday afternoon when a representative from this paper dropped in for a look behind the scenes. The store room was a picture for any thrifty housekeeper to see! Hie hundreds of Jars were arranged in ROBERT D. ROUSE vol . IBS with 6000 quart, already put in glass and tin, Mrs. Ednrandson said she hoped to have two or three more thousand to add to this total before the end at the sea as assistant of< summer and Mis. given outstanding Both women have done splendid work. Loyal and faithful Assistants at the canning center were Augustas Vines, packer, Add Vines Willougfcby, Dora Joyner, Cherry Beam an, Lessie Taylor, Effie Hamlin, Sytira Kelvin and Josie Turnage. These women too hav<* worked steadily Apd cheerfully through days of blistering heat and deserve commendation for their spirit and effort |§ These canned pantry supplies will be pooled for use in the white and colored schools here to provide balanced meals for the children during the fall and winter months and in the early spring until the fresh vegetables come in. The splendid results of this project show that in spite of the extreme dry weather the 15 acre garden was well tended through the spring and summer months by Perry Bundy, head gardener, and his eight helpers.
