A bulletin, “Facing Farm Facts”, No. 235, printed in 1939 by the Extension Service, is still \ery applicable today. It deals with ood for the family, feed for the IK’estock, and fertility for the soil. This Extension Circular will assist farmers in workimg out the' food and feed requirements for the farm. It is a good hand book for setting up a budget for the family and livestock. It also contains a garden calendar, and a field crop calendar. This circu lar could prove very helpful to any farm family that wishes to make definite plans for " their farm program. (il) Livestock and poultry rais ers should grow their own small grain needs if possible. (2) Other farmers .can grow small grain for sale. Here are some suggestions to fol low; 1. Prepare a good seed bed, 2. Use high-yielding treated seed, 3. Seed on time—oats and barley in October, and wheat the first half of Novetnber, 4. Fertilize ac cording to needj' and 5. Top dress on time—^February 15 to March 15. Order fertilizer requirements • -v at onck.
