Only recently has the pancreas been included in this company—it having been established Ehat insulin, the sub stance formed by the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas, is a true hormone. The products of all these glands are vital to full development and complete health (though the thymus begins a slow process of atrophy after babyhood). Each gland or pair of glands secretes into the blood stream one or more hormones, each having a specific function and—it is assumed—each affect ing directly or indirectly functioning of other endocrine glands. The islet of Langerhans here has deteriorated into a glas sy, pellucid mass, incapable of secreting insulin. i FOR S.4LE: Facsimile Gold Leaf j SUGAR, 5 lbs 45c PC? & CARNATION tall can 12c ■e ALL KINDS — LARGE SIZE Washing Powder 30c iC-OZ CAN kl^ 29c TALL CAN mi SALiON 49c SUNSuLNE CRISPY GPJJKERS, II8123.... ?.5s QUART SIZE PEANUT BUTTER.... 6Se PURE LARD,4lhs §5c AOsnii NEAT SPECIALS GRADE A ROUND STEAK, lb rpADE A SIRLOIN OR T-BONE STEAK, lb , AIL MEAT BONELESS STEW BEEF, !b DRESSED AND DRAWN FRYEP.S, lb « liEIS, !b V/KITE SEAL Ih THICK FATBACK, Ifc 20c letters and numbers.
