Visit At f * Meeting Of Raeford Woman’s Club The open meeting of the Raeford Woman’s Club was held Thursday night in the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Mrs. Bobby Carter. Presi dent. presided. She announced that the Education Department was winner of the attendance award. Reports were heard from officers and standing committees, including one Births Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Workman of Fayetteville announce the birth of a daughter on Octo ber 16 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. Mrs. Workman is the former Pearl Willis of Raeford. from the committee in charge of the Benefit Bridge Party to be held tonight (Thursday) at the Armory. It was an nounced that Mrs. A. D. Gore had been appointed Magazine Chairman of Dis trict 9 of the N. C. Federa tion of Woman’s Clubs. Mrs. Stanley Koonce pre sented Mrs. W. E. Willis. Raeford club woman and for mer home demonstration agent, who gave a talk on Columbia. South America. Mrs. Willis visited the coun try last spring when she at tended the South American Ru ral Extension Seminar. She (Jiscussed the cultural, agri cultural and economic con - ditions in Columbia. She told how CARE packages have helped to build more useful lives in that country. Color slides made on the trip were shown by Mrs. TomCameron. Chaminade Music Club Presents McCain Program Members of the Chaminade Music Club presented a musi cal program for the patients at the N. C. Sanatorium at McCain on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. H. C. Their Visitors were Mrs. William Lamont and Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Huggins. The hostess served candies and Cokes during the game and a dessert course after it. Mrs. Clyde Upchurch, Jr. was winner of the woman’s prize and T. B. Lester won the men’s high score prize'. Mrs. Lamont received the visitor’s prize. Slork Shower Given MrH. Floyd Friday Mrs. Eugene Polston and Mrs. Homer Tuttle were hos tesses at a stork shower on Friday night given in honor of Mrs. Billy Floyd. The 20 guests gathered at the Polston home on Fifth Avenue. The honoree was pre sented a corsage of dainty pink and blue baby gifts when she arrived. The hostesses served cake, nuts, and punch. Mrs. Gentry Enlertain^ Hoke Med. Auxiliary Mrs. W. H. Gentry of Mc Cain entertained the members of the Hoke County Medical Auxiliary Monday for lunch eon at Howard Johnson’s Res taurant. Following luncheon a business session was held. Members present included Mrs. J. L. Berry, Mrs. Gen try. Mrs. Clifton Davenport, Mrs. R. M. Jordan. Mrs. J.J. McCarthy, Mrs. R. A. Mathe- son. Mrs. R. Mrs. Homewood’s mother, Mrs. Ben Lawrence of Pace, Va.. was here with the children. Mrs. W. E. Dobbins has re- wrned to her home inYadkin- ville after a two week’s visit here with her daughter, Mrs. D. W. Huggins and family. Mrs. H. A. Cameron return ed Sunday from a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Vernon Provm , and family in Blue- field. W. Va. Johnny Maultsby arrived Sat urday night from Lackland AFB, Texas where he com pleted his basic training. Af ter a two week’s leave he will be stationed at Shaw AFB, S. C, Miss Suzanne Cameron, gra duate student at Wake Forest College, spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cameron. Mr, and Mrs. James Alexander and family of Lexington were here most of last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W . L. Alexan der. Mrs. L. J. Tapp and Mrs. Mary Helton Smith spent last week visiting Mrs. H. E. Stinchcomb in Black Moun tain. Marshall Peele of Newport News, Va. was home for the week end with his parents. Mr and Mrs. M. V. Peele. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Sample and daughter. Lynn of Boone .spent the week end with her parents. Mr, and Mrs. J.W. McPhaul. Mrs. Sample and daughter remained for a lon ger visit. L. Murray won the club high scoreprize andMrs. Lamont was awarded the visi tors prize. A salad course was served after the game. Warners Hosts To Bridge Club Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy War ner were hosts to members of their couples bridge club on Thursday night' at their home near town. All club members were present. Mrs. Warner served re freshments prior to the bridge game. The women’s high score prize went to Mrs. Joe Up church and Luke McNeill re ceived the men’s award for high score.
