Hoke High Holds First Hoke High School Class of 1939 hold its first reunion Sunday at the Family Restaurant. Class members and guests, totaling 69, gathered at four o'clock for a fellowship hour, followed by dinner at 6:30. Punch and snacks were served during the afternoon. Live me Mclnnis of Maxton served as master of ceremonies. The head table was centered with a mass arrangement of w'hite chrysanthemums, centered with a large red "39". Other tables held baskets tilled with fruit, berries and ivy. Two candles on the center table were lighted in memory of deceased members of the class, Charles Scale and Max Pickler. Freeman was entertained with a tea on the occasion of her 84th birthday. Hostesses for the 3 to 5 affair were her daughters, Mis. C.L. Thomas and Mrs. Duncan McFadyen of Raeford, Mrs. Eli Wishart of Lumberton and Mrs. J.L. Carver of Durham. The Thomas home was decorated with arrangements of pink camellias and red roses. The dining room table was spread with a green velvet cloth and centered with pink camellias. Orien ta t For Woman's Club Fifty members and guests were present at an orientation dinner Monday night for Raeford Woman's Club new members and old members and their guests. The in-training meet was held at 6:45 p.m. at the Civic Center. Tables for the covered dish bullet were set with North Carolina Woman's Club scenic place mats. The buffet table, spread with a green cloth, held an arrangement of yellow chrysanthemums, the color note of green and bold being the Raeford Woman's Club colors, Mrs. John Balfour, president of the Raeford Club, presided. Mrs. Tonimic Upchurch, district magazine chairman. introduced the speaker, Mrs. I.C. Edwards of Fayetteville, District president IX, who spoke on the meaning and work of the Federation of Woman'l Clubs on an international, national, stale, district and local level. She explained the work of the divisions of Education, Public Affairs and International Affairs. Chaminade Club Welcomes New Members Tues The Chaminade Music Club met at the home of Mrs. Tom Risher Tuesday evening. Mrs. Sieve Phillips was co-hostess. Mrs. Hugh Lowe and Mis. Bill Colston were welcomed as new members of the Club. The treasurer gave a report on the bake sale, and beads were distributed to the members to sell. Auction Sale At Home Life Meeting Tuesday The Home Life Department of the Raeford Woman's Club met Tuesday night at the Civic Center with Mrs. DJ. Campbell and Mrs. William Cothran serving as hostesses. Mrs. M.A. Maxwell presided in the absence of the chairman. The meeting was opened with the Club Collect and Pledge of Allegiance. Mrs. Maxwell welcomed Mrs. Irvin Currie as a suest. Members brought gifts to be distributed at Christmas time to Leonard Training School and the O'Bcrry Home. An auction sale of canned goods and handmade items was held. The door prize was won by Mrs. Donald Yates. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. Club Elects New Officers "The Hoke County Swingers", a square dance club held its regular weekly meeting Friday and new officers were elected. Radford Collins, president, and Lois Scarboro, secretary will replace outgoing president Bobby Cox. and secretary Stewart Smith. Other new officers are Lacy Scarboro, vice president, Bobby Currie, treasurer, and Kay Collins, social chairman. Lacy Scarboro and Bobby Currie will be serving second terms.
