Miss Culbreth, who completed her course work for her bachelor's degree in December, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred M. Culbreth of 210 Harris Ave Sigma Mu is a regional honorary organization composed of faculty and students. It recognizes high scholastic attainment of seniors and juniors and encourages independent research. Those who have done work of distinction are eligible. Boyd Benny Gasquc has attained the average required for honor roll status and Iras been placed on the Dean's Last of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the Fall semester. Sandhills College News The Sandhills Playmakers will climax the current season of dramatic productions with the presentation of three prize ? winning one ? act plays written by William Watson, chairman of the department of English and drama at Sandhills Community College. Watson, who organized the Sandhills Playmakers in 1965, has announced that the three plays will be presented in the Cardinal Room of the Carolina Hotel Friday and Sunday evenings April 17 and 19 and will feature Sandlrills College students who are majoring in drama. The production, with the ever ? all title of One Man in His Time, will include Prologue, presented by the local group in 1965 at the State Drama Festival wlicrc it won Superior Rating in Play Production and two awards for the author: Kilroy Was Here which won the National Collegiate Playwriting Competition for Watson plus tire Shubcrt Fellowship in playwriting; and A Piece of Flannel, first presented by the UNC Chapel Hill Playmakers in 1967 and earned Watson the Carolina Playmakers Award. Watson, a native of Sanford, is a graduate of F.lon College, and holds the Master's Degree from Duke University, and had^~ a year of graduate study aP^r Chapel Hill on the Shubcrt Fellowship in Playwriting. Besides being the author of a number of published plays he has had professional acting experience and has served as co-director of the famed outdoor drama Unto These Hills at Cherokee.
