ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Clifton Baldwin of Route 2, Seagrove announce the engagement of their daughter, Grace Marie, to Horace Niven Stogner Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Stogner of Raeford. Miss Baldwin is completing her degree in the Registered Nursing Program. Mr. Stogner is completing his degree in the Associate Arts Program. Both are students at Sandhills Community College. Miss Hawkins and Mr. English are both graduates of Louisburg College and her plans are to attend Methodist College in the fall An August wedding is planned. WITH OUR College Students Miss Hilda Scull, a junior journalism major at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, was recently elected Co - Chairman of the Tennessee Federation of College Republicans at their fourth annual convention held in Jackson. Miss' Scull has previously served as state treasurer of the CR's an while attending King College she was club treasurer and newsletter editor. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Scull of Raeford. Mary Jean Matherly and Marie McLauchlin Raynor, both of Raeford will graduate Sunday from Appalachian State University in spring commencement ceremonies. Both will hold degrees in elementary education. Mac Smith, grandson of Mrs. Mary D. McBryde of Raeford, graduated from North Carolina State University on May 15, receiving a B.S. degree in forest management. Smith was also on the spring semester dean's list. Lee, was honored by the Elon College Alumni Association last Saturday, when he received the college's Outstanding Alumni award for the year. The plaque was presented at the annual Alumni Banquet held at Elon. This award is given each year to an alumnis for his service to his community, his college and his profession. After receiving his B.A. degree from Elon, he attended the L'niversity of North Carolina where he received his Master's degree in education. Lee has been employed in the Moore County School System since his graduation,? starting as a teacher, then principal of Aberdeen High School, and now Moore County superintendent. During his ten year tenure as superintendent, Lee has seen the merger of three administrative schools into one for the county, the consolidation of IS small high schools into three comprehensive high schools, the remodeling of the elementary schools, the complete integration of the school system and the buildings of a new administration building, garage and shop. Jaycees Go To Convention The Hoke County Jaycees were represented by a delegation of 11 officers and members at the Annual State Convention held in Winston ? Salem May 21-23. Among those attending was President Winford Rogers; Internal Vice President Robert Taylor; Secretary Harold Brewer; State Director David E. Bullard; and members Thomas L. Locklear, Roman Jacobs, Willie Jacobs, Larry Brewer, Clinton Clark, Reid Bryant, and Charlie Locklear Jr. While at the convention the delegation took part in many official functions, including Saturday morning's general membership meeting, Saturday's election of State Officers, the Inaugural Banquet, and the Inaugural Dance. At the Saturday general membership meeting the Hoke County Jaycees are officially recognized by State Jaycee President Bill Hobbs, as the "Nation's Largest Rural Chapter." Hobbs also awarded a Presidential Award of Honor to Hoke County Jaycee Treasurer James A. Hunt for his work as membership chairman during the chapter's organization. "On ? To" Chairman David E. Bullard characterized the trip as a complete success and said the chapter plans to make it an annual project.
