lumber Bridge BY PAM SUMNER Mrs. John Brown visited her mother, Mrs. Emma Bass and her brother ? in ? law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Luby Jackson in Newton Grove Sunday. Mrs. Ida Smith spent Sunday with her son and daughter ? in ? law, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Smith and son Mark in Zebulon. ' Mr. and Mrs. Les Livingston of Charlotte spent Saturday night with his sister, Mrs. Janie Furmage on their way to Kure's Beach for the week. Others visiting Mrs. Furmage during the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Cari Brock of Wilmington and Mr. and Mrs. Don Livingston of Fayetteville. Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Shaw of Clinton visited his sister, Miss Allene Shaw and Mrs. Katie Little near Parkton Sunday. Mrs. Hunter Forbis attended the Parker family reunion at Parker's Methodist Church Sunday. Mrs. Tommy Hough and children, Dawn and Edmund of Charlotte spent Friday nigh\ with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hough. She came to get her daughter, Jeneal who spent last week with her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hough received word that their son Ted had arrived in Thailand. Mr. and Mrs. Billie Trout man and da lighter, Libby and Mrs. Fred Russell visited Mrs. D.D. Troutman in Statesviile Sunday. They went to accompany their daughter, Billie Sue home aft^r spending two weeks with her grandmother. Misses Verna, Dot and Rosemary McGougan and Miss Pearl Dew and Miss Martha McLean are spending this week at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sharpe and children, Mark, Leland, and Jimmy of St. Louis, Missouri and Mrs. Donald Heath and children, Don, Billie and Jo'nathan of Ft. Bragg visited their uncle and family, Mr. and Mrs. James E. Osborne Sr. last Tuesday. Misses Allison and Susan Evans of Lumberton spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Russell. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bryan and children, Lynn and Teresa visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bryan in Lumberton and his brother and sister - in - law, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bryan and daughter Susan from New York who were with his parents Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Schell spent the weekend at their trailer at Holden's Beach. Walter E. Marley III, a senior at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, left Thursday for DuBois, Wyoming, where he will attend the annual geology school conducted in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming by Miami University, Oxford, Ohio. He is one of five North Carolina State students participating. The Rev. and Mrs. Frank Turner and sons John and Timmy, pastor of Lumber Bridge Baptist Church, left Wednesday for Fremont, where he has accepted pastorage of Fremont Baptist Church. Mrs. Matthew . Thompson and granddaughter, Sherry Elliott attended the Brown Family reunion at Western Prong Community Building near Bladenboro Sunday. Visiting their sister, Miss Millie Williford sometime during the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Mac Lean Williford and daughters Barbara and Jan of Rocky Mount, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Williford and daughters Pam and Jean of Siler City and Mrs. Elizabeth Tolar of Lumberton and the Rev. and Mrs. Murphy Smith of New Bern. Mr. and Mrs. Billie Williford of Saudi, Arabia arrived Saturday t? spend some time with his mother, Mrs. J.F. Williford and his sister, Ollie Ann. Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Marley Jr. and sons, Bill and Greer of Raleigh visited his mother, Mrs. W.G. Marley Sr. and his brother, Morris Sunday. Miss Gail Lupo, Miss Judy Taylor and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Walters of St. Pauls spent Monday at White Lake. Mrs. Betty Aroche and daughter of Miami, Florida, Mrs. Sterling Tucker and sons, George and Tim of Miami, Florida and Mrs. Georgia Callcutt of North Miami Beach, Florida, visited Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Sumner and children, Pam and Johnnie Monday night. Mrs. Arocho, Cindy, and Tim Tucker spent Monday night with Mr. and Mrs. Sumner. Mrs. Sterling and Mrs. Callcutt spent the night with Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Schell. They left Tuesday for Cape Cod and on to Canada. MR. AND MRS. SIDNEY SUMNER Silver Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Sumner were honored with a reception celebrating their Silver Wedding Anniversary at their home near Lumber Bridge Sunday afternoon from 3:00 o'clock until 5:00 o'clock. Guests were greeted at the door by Mr. and Mrs. Merrett Gibson and introduced to the receiving line consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Sumner, their daughters Mrs. Faye McMillian, Pamela Sumner and their son Johnnie, Mrs. Sumner's mother, Mrs. Ethel Gibson and members of the wedding party Mrs. Hubert Upchurch, Mrs. L.B. Dees and J.D. Gibson and Mrs. Z.G. Ray and Miss Lois Sumner. Miss Elizabeth Sumner received and displayed the gifts, Mrs. J.D. Gibson poured punch and Mrs. Sammy Bennett served cake. Mr. anil Mrs. Charles Kelly presided over the register and said goodbyes. The table was covercd with a white lace table cloth over white linen and a silver punc'h bowl was on one end and a three tier cake on the other. An arrangement of white and green flowers Hanked by two burning green candles centered the table. The living room was decorated with green and white flowers and green candles. Out of town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Livingston of Charlotte, Mr. and Mrs. Sammy Bennet and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelly of Wilmington, Mrs. Evelyn Dumas of Wake Forest, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Upchurch of Lexington, Mr. and Mrs. Z.G. Ray of Wingate College, Mrs. Hugh McCall of Maxton, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Chason of Fayetteville, Miss Barbara Williford of Rocky Mount. Other guests were from Raeford, Red Springs. Lumber Bridge. Hostesses were the Suntner children. Mrs. Faye McMillian of Dundarrach, Pamela and Johnnie Sumner. Miss Cathy Lupo is spending the week with Miss Debbie Ferguson at Lone Beach.
