Brock, Mr. and lift. James Culp visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Yeargan of Durham Sunday. Michael Nugent is out of the navy now and he and Mrs. Nugent are hare to stay. Gibson's grandson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Gibson Jr. and children of Camp Kennedy, Fla. and M/Sgt. and Mrs. Johnny Allen and daughters Sandra, Shirley and Teresa of Charleston, S.C. spent the past weekend with Mrs. Gibson and family. Mrs. Hunter Forbis of Lumber Bridge went to Stedman Sunday and brought Mrs. Sina Brown back to stay with her mother, Mrs. S.N. McColl. Susan Upchurch of Lexington came home with Joy Gibson to spend a few weeks with her. Mr. and Mrs. L.B. In the afternoon they ?attended the Christening of their grandson, Samuel Brown Hendrix III at the First Methodist Church in Lumberton. Returning home Sunday evening, Mr. and Mrs. LB. Dees stopped by the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Sumner to attend their Silver Wedding celebration. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Sumner. Mrs. Neill McCormick of St. Pauls and Glenn Newton of Bladenboro visited relatives here last Sunday and attended the morning worship service at Galatia Church. Mrs. Floyd Monroe, Mrs. Will Monroe, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Monroe and son Ronald, Mr. and Mrs. M.D. Gillis and daughter Judy attended the Monroe ? Griffin wedding in Greensboro Saturday. Will Monroe and his son Harold attended the big sing at Benson Sunday. Mrs. Aubrey Gaddis reports her son, Danny, had a traveling birthday cake, thanks to Mrs. Mary Mclnnis, who made the delicious pound cake, The family took it to Holden Beach last week on vacation. Danny was 11 years old on June 22, so they rode over to Cherry Grove Beach, S.C. where other members of the family were vacationing and had a birthday party for him by Mrs. Gaddis. Mrs. Aubrey Gaddis and sons Ricky, Tom and Dan returned home Saturday after a week at the beach. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Koonce were dinner guests oT Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Bostic ? Sunday. Mrs. Alfred Quick of Montrose spent all day Sunday and until Sunday night at 9 o'clock, when her son, Homer Quick, came for her, with her sister, Mrs. J.W. Caddell and Mr. Caddell. She attended services at Tabernacle Church with Mr. and Mrs. Caddell Sunday a.m. Mr. and Mrs. Will Hair's grandson, Billy Hair of Winston ? Salem, spent from Thursday to Sunday with them. Other guests Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Cole and children Linda and Buddy of Columbia, S.C. and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sanders and children Donna and Albert of Moncks Corner, SC. Mrs. Robert Turner and her Krents, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin asley and children E.W. and Nancy spent the weekend at Carolina Beach. Mrs. Ethel D. Gibson, Mr. and Mrs. MS. Gibson and children Joy and Ricky attended the Silver Wedding Anniversary celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Sumner at their home in Lumber Bridge Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Ray and Mrs. Bill Clipson visited the Ray's granddaughter, Mrs. Mickey Pollard of Greenville and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Mooring of Lagrange and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Mooring of Seven Springs during the past weekend. BALL PLAYERS The Rockflsh Little Leage Mets played 2 games last week, dropping a game on June 21 to the Bentwood Angels, 24 to 16. The Mets came back for the second win of the season on Friday against the Brentwood Tigers, 10 to 5. Rocky Wood hurled the win for the Mets. Rockfish Mets played at Brentwood on June 23 against the Brentwood Hornets. The Mets return to Brentwood Friday, July 2, to play Brentwood Agnels. Bostic were Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bostic of Rosehill, Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Bostic of Kenansville, Mr. and Mrs. Delton King of Favetteville and Mr. and Mrs. Gardner Bostic of Shannon. Mr. and Mrs. Z.G. Ray of Wingate visited Mr. and Mrs. B.B. Bostic Sunday. They were here for the Sumner's Silver Wedding celebration. Mr. and Mrs. K..P. Ritter have just returned from a * weeks visit with the Rev. and Mrs. John Garrison and children of Ft. Ashby, West Va. They brought the children, Mark, Tom and Catharine home wiht them. McGIRT REUNION The McGirt clan gathered at Centre Church last Sunday, June 27, for the annua) reunion. Many of them arrived in time for the worship service in the church at 11 o'clock. By 1 o'clock most of the clan were there. The dinner composed of all kinds of good food, was spread on a long V - shaped table and there were more than enough for the large crowd. An interesting program was presented in the church at 2 o'clock. Those who took part were Mrs. Margaret McGirt Crowson. program chairman, Mrs. Mary LiUie Parker, Sec. & Treas., Mrs. Frances Lee fianist, Miss Virginia McGirt, ohn K. McGirt, Graham Lee, Miss Brenda McGirt, Miss Jeannette McGirt, Roger McGirt, Thomas Mclnnis, Carolyn McGougan, Miss Jane McGougan, Mrs, Calhoun, organist, Murphy McGirt, Mrs. Elizabeth McGirt Holbrook. This clan is composed of the descendants of John and Archibald McGirt, who were brothers and lived close together on opposite sides of Lumber River near McGirt's bridge. There were 117 registered and there were more from South Carolina and some from Florida. Long live the McGirt clan.
