Vicki Lynn Harton Is Bride Of Thomas Franklin Wriaht Miss Vicki Lynn Harton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otis J. Harton of Newport, became the bride of Thomas Franklin Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Julian H. Wright of Raeford, on Sunday, August 29, at Newport Methodist Church. The Rev. Jerry Roeve officiated at the 2 00 p.m. ceremony. Wedding music was presented by Miss Shelia Garner, organist, and Duryl Garner, vocalist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white angel satin and Venice lace designed with lace borders at the high neckline, cuffs of the bishop sleeves, empire waistline and around the hemline of the softly gathered skirt. Ice appliques were used on the chapel train Her three ? tiered veil of silk illusion was attached to a caplet of lace and pearls. She carried a prayerbook topped with a white orchid and satin streamers. Maid of honor was Miss Diane Brown of Newport, cousin of the bride, who wore a yellow peau de soie gown and headpiece of yellow net cought to a matching velvet bow. She carried a single white mum with white streamers. Bridesmaids, whose costumes and flovVers were like the honor attendants, were Shirely Smith of Raeford. Linda Brown and Carol Brown of Raleigh, Jenny Youngblood of Newport and Rachel Nobles of Dover. Children in the wedding were Cynthia Brown of Newport and Master Robert Wright Jr. of Raeford. The bridegroom's father served as best man. Ushers were Hugh Wright of Winston - Salem. Robert Wright of Raeford and Fletcher Wnght ot Greensboro, all brothers ol the bridegroom, David Harton ol Newport, brother of the bride; Mike Melton of Raeford. cousin "ot the bride, and Dale Teal of Raelord. Following the ceremony. the bride's parents entertained with a reception in the church reception room. After a wedding trip to the coast and the mountains of North Carolina, the Wrights will be at home at 107 Cole Ave.. Raeford. The bride is a graduate of West Carteret High School. The bridegroom, a graduate of Hoke High School and Pembroke State University, is assistant manager of Aiken Loan and Security Co.. and is vice ? president of Wright and Best Inc. A rehearsal supper for the wedding party and out ot town guests was given Saturday night by the bride's parents at the Masonic Hall in Newport. Andrews, the 1971 county nominee for Mother of the Year has been appointed to represent the state Mothers Association as a director on the S C. Council of Organizations. Mrs. A.A. Williams of Hamlet, president of the State Mothers Association, was Mrs. Andrews' luncheon guest last Thursday . Hostesses were Mrs. Sam Morris and her daughter. Miss Sarah Morris. An arrangement of yellow summer flowers was used in the living room where dessert and iced tea were served. The hostesses presented Miss Matherly with a corsage of white daisies, a recipe box filled with recipes brought by each guest, and an electric coffeemaker. Stec-Rowlond Vows Spoken August 16 Miss Thelma Dianne Rowland, daughter of Sgt. (Ret.) and Mrs. C.H. Rowland, and Dale Edward Stec of Angola. New York, were married August 16, at 2:00 p.m., at Galatia Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Russell Fleming performed the double ring ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a formal gown of white organza with venise lacc and pearl trim fashioned along Victorian lines with stand - up collar, camelot sleeves with lace cuffs. Bands of lace outlined the waistline and were used vertically on the front of the gown. The A line skirt was bouffant in back and extended into a full chapel train, with bow and streamers marking the back waistline. Her chapel length illusion veil was held by a crown of seed pearls. She carried a nosegay of summer flowers centered with baby pink roses. Miss Cindy Rowland, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Her floor ? length pink organza and white lace dress was stvled like the bride's gown. She wore a picture hat and carried a white basket of summer flowers. Bridesmaids were Miss Diana Dalton of Mount Airy, Miss Rose Coble of Garland, and Miss Katie Quick and Mrs. Anita Clark of Raeford. Their orchid dresses were made like the honor attendant's and their hats and flowers were identical. Robert Nor r is of Fayetteville served as best man. Ushers were Creston H. Rowland, brother of the bride. Sgt. Charles Collingwood of Indiana, and Harold Brady and Steve Bishop of Raeford. Archie Rowland, brother of the bride, and Randy Dunn, the bride's cousin were acolytes. The mother of the bride wore a pink crepe dress with matching accessories. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Rowland's Bar - B- Que. For travel the bride wore an orange and beige dress. After a wedding trip to Canada the newlyweds will be at home at 5309 Cypress Rd., Fayetteville. Sandhills Expects Record Enrollment Sandhills Community College will open fot the 1971-72 academic year with a projected enrollment of more than 1200 students. Six hundred and fifty returning students and more than six hundred new students have pre registered, according to college officials, an indication that the final count will exceed the 1255 students enrolled in the fall of 1970. For the past month some fifty new students a day, Mondays through Fridays, have been briefed on all phases of the college by members of the faculty and staff and conducted on tours of the campus facilities. Registration will by held September 7-8 and classes will begin September 9 according to James C. Halstead. dean' of student services. Orientation for the faculty as planned by Dr. Harry G. Beard, dean of instruction, will be held September 7 and 8 in the mornings. Dr. Raymond A. Stone, president of Sandhills, Henry I. Rahn. director of occupational education. Dr. LeRoy Dare, director of the college transfer division, D.L. Furches, director of adult education, Eugene Watts, business manager, Edward W. DuRant. Sr., director of development, and Mrs. Leone H. Roster, director of the news bureau, will speak briefly at the faculty sessions. A highlight of the faculty orientation will be a luncheon September 7 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Stone. A reception honoring new instructors and members of the staff will be held September 8 at the Country Clulr of North Carolina. MRS.
