Fifth DUI Charge Brings Heavy Fine
A heavy fine was levied by
District Court Judge Joseph Dupree
here Friday on Larry Kenneth
Bern, of 706 Edinborough Ave.,
Raeford for driving under the
influence, (fifth offense) driving
while his license was revoked, and
speeding 65 in a 55 MPH zone.
Berry pleaded guilty to the
charges.
Dupree sentenced Berry to two
years, suspended for five years, and
placed him on probation for five
years on condition he not drive in
any state of the U.S. on a public
street or highway for five years and
not have the odor of alcohol on his
breath during that time, and pay a
fine of $1,000 and costs for the DUI
charges.
For the other charges, Berry was

Alfonzo Frazier, Raeford,
pleaded guilty to DUI and was
sentenced to 90 days, suspended
for 12 months, and ordered not to
drive for 12 months except for
limited driving privileges and fined
$150 and costs. Blood alcohol
content was .14. according to
records.
K.C. McNair, Rt. 2, Raeford.
pleaded guilty to DUI and was
sentenced to 90 days, suspended for
12 months and ordered not to drive
for 12 months except for limited
driving privileges and fined $150
and costs. Blood alcohol content
was .23, according to records.
Clyde Wilbur Hatchell, Laurin
burg, pleaded guilty to DUI, (third
offense) and driving while his
license was revoked and driving left
of center and reckless driving and
was sentenced to two years, sus
pended for five years, and placed
on probation for five years and
ordered not to drive until licensed
to do so and fined $700 and costs.
Norman Warren Johnson. Ft.
Bragg, pleaded guilty to driving
while his license was revoked and
was sentenced to eight months,
suspended for two years and placed
on probation for two years and
ordered not to drive until licensed
to do so and fined $200 and costs.
Neal Archie McMillan. Rt. 1.
Shannon, entered a plea of guilty to
DUI and was sentenced to six
months, suspended for two years,
and placed on probation for two
years and ordered not to drive until
licensed to do so and fined $150
and costs. Blood alcohol content

Roy Lee Murchison Jr.. Rt. 2.
Raeford. was found guilty of
exceeding 55 MPH by more than 15
MPH while fleeing from an officer,
reckless driving, speeding 100 in a
55 MPH zone, and failure to stop
for a siren and was sentenced to 12
months, suspended for two years,
and placed on probation for two
years, ordered not to drive until
licensed to do so and fined $300
and costs.
Eugene Campbell, was found
guilty of DUI and was sentenced to
six months, suspended for two
years, and fined $100 and costs and
ordered not to operate any type of
vehicle for 12 months.
Michael Locklear, Pembroke,
pleaded guilty to reckless driving
after the state dropped charges of
DUI and was sentenced to 60 days,
suspended and fined $75 and costs.
Lynwood Covington Jr., Rock
ingham, pleaded guilty to driving
without a license after the state
dropped charges of DUI and was
sentenced to 30 days, suspended
and fined $25 and costs.
Gary Lynn Locklear, Rt. 1.
Shannon, pleaded guilty to driving
without a license and was sentenced
to 10 days retroactive to date of
arrest.
Novella McRae Bolden. Raeford,
pleaded guilty to reckless driving
after the state dropped charges of
DUI and was sentenced to 30 days,
suspended and fined $75 and costs.
Edward Lee Key Jr., Red
Springs, pleaded guilty to speeding
75 in a 55 MPH zone and was
sentenced to 30 days, suspended
and ordered not to drive until
licensed to do so. and fined $25 and
costs.
Larry Dale Foster. Rt. 1, Aber
deen. pleaded guilty to speeding 65
in a 55 MPH zone and prayer for
judgment was continued for two
years upon payment of costs.
Curtis Mitchell Freeman. P. O.
Box 32. Raeford, was found not
guilty of assault on a female and
the prosecuting witness was fined
costs.
James Liles, Rt. 1. Raeford,
pleaded guilty to two counts of
worthless checks and was sentenced
to 30 days, suspended for two years
and fined S15 restitution and costs.
He also pleaded guilty to another
count of worthless check and was
sentenced to 30 days, suspended for
two years and fined $13.50 restitu
tion and cost of court.
Curley Chavis, Rt. 2, Maxton,
was fouhd guilty of simple assault
and was sentenced to 30 days
retroactive to date of arrest.
David Packer. Department of
Correction, McCain, pleaded guilty
to escape and was sentenced to 90
days, to run concurrently with his
present sentence.
Donnie Hugh White. Depart
ment of Correction. McCain,
pleaded guilty to escape and was
sentenced to 90 days, to run
concurrently with his present sen
tence.
Lannie Shands. 601 Forrest St.,
Raeford. pleaded guilty to shop
lifting and prayer for judgment was
continued and she was placed on
probation for two years and fined
costs.
Libby Wilson. Rt. 4, Raeford,
was found not guilty of injury to
personal property.
Guy Morns. Kaetora. was iuuuu
not guilty to simple assault and the
prosecuting witness was fined costs.
