Mrs. Carlton Niven, Social Reporter, 875-3785 Luncheon Honors "Peggy Swanson Mrs. Larry Phillips, Miss Ivey Mallard and Mrs. Jimmy McPhaul entertained with a luncheon July 10 at the Phillips home honoring Miss Peggy Swanson. bride-elect of Charles Crowder. Shasta daisies flanked by silver candlesticks with white candles centered the table. Miss Swanson received a corsage of daisies and china in her selected pattern. Local Debutantes At Greenville Party Jane Austin and Suzanne Jor r dan attended a party in Greenville. N.C., Saturday evening, given by the parents of other debs, Misses Helen Ruth Fleming, Catherine Garrett, Sally Sugg, and Peggy 'Watson of Greenville, Mary Wins low of Hamilton, and Beth Green and Kathy Wilson of Roberson ville. Prior to a street dance, debs and their escorts gathered for a pig pickin' in the garden of Mr. and Mrs. Van Calvin Fleming Jr.'s home. Colorful quilts provided seats for the picnic as everyone helped themselves to barbecue, chicken, baked beans, cole slaw and corn sticks. Music for the dance was pro vided by Gene Barber and the Cavaliers. Over 400 debs, dates and parents attended the statewide event. Bridge Mrs Coley Mrs. Walter Coley entertained members of her bridge club and one visitor, Mrs. Glenn Langdon, on Tuesday evening of last week. She served homemade peach ice cream and cake. Prizes went to Mrs. Avery Con nell for high score, to Mrs. David Scott Currie for bingo, and to Mrs. Martin Webb for consolation. ,,Mr & Mrs Senter Mr. and Mrs. Neil Senter were hosts to the couples club at their home last week. Guests other than 'members were Mrs. William Lamont and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Upchurch. A dessert course was served when guests arrived. At the conclusion of the game prizes were awarded to Mrs. Char lie Morrison for the ladies' club high, Clyde Upchurch. men's high, and to Mr. and Mrs. Upchurch, visitor's high. Birthdays Rebecca Mason Rebecca E. Mason celebrated her 15th birthday Saturday with a party at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor in Fayetteville. a weenie roast, and then an overnight campout. Balfour returned to the States Saturday after a three ?week visit with friends and relatives in England. She returned home the first of the week after spending several days in Raleigh with her son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Major Goodman. Mrs. J.A. Jones accompanied her son, Jimmy Jones, and family to Charlotte Sunday for a visit. Mrs. Charles Avera of Winston Salem has arrived to be with her mother, Mrs. R.B. Lewis, who is a patient at Moore Memorial Hos pital. Mrs. Watson Lawhon of Martinsville, Va., was here with her mother last week. Mrs. Archie Howard has as her guests this week, Mrs. Charles Howard and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hutchison and sons of Leesburg, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Graham Clark have returned after vacationing several days in the mountains of North Carolina. Miss Becky Plummer of Goldsboro spent several days last week here with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Plummer. Mr. and Mrs. John Henry McNeill spent the weekend at their place at Holden Beach. The Rev. Charles Litzenberger of Fayetteville is serving as pastor of Parker Methodist Church. He was formerly assistant pastor of Hay Street Methodist Church in Fay etteville. Mrs. Fred Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Johnson Jr., Mrs. Kate Mc Phaul and Mrs. Pete Parker were Sunday guests of Dr. and Mrs. E.F. Gaynor in Greenville. S.C. . Mr. and Mrs. Hal Gore and children of Chipley. Fla., are here for a visit with Mrs. A.D. Gore and the O.B. Maxwell family. Miss Misty Lewis of Pinebluff spent the weekend with her grand parents. Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Webb. Mrs. Mamie N. Smith of Jackson ville. Fla., is visiting her sister, Mrs. Martin Webb, and other relatives. Brad Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Edwards, is visiting this week in Columbus. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones at tended the funeral of Mrs. Willie S. Williamson in Cerro Gordo last week. Mrs. Blaz Bailon has returned to her home in Big Spring. Texas, after spending three weeks here with her daughter, Mrs. Yolanda Webb, who suffered a broken neck in a car accident and was hospita lized at Moore Memorial Hospital for a week. Mrs. Webb's husband, S/Sgt. Richard H. Webb, USAF, was on his way home from Ger many at the time of the accident. Mrs. Webb's brother, Pfc. Alonzo Bailon. spent several days with her before he and his mother returned to Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Daniels and Misses Sarah and Margaret Mc Kenzie are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harry Daniels Jr. in Birmingham. Ala. Mrs. A.B. Dickson spent part of last week at her cottage at Topsail Beach. Jimmy Wood and Miss Ellen Sue Williamson of East Carolina U., spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Wood. Mrs. Clara Mewherter has returned from a vacation in Pennsylvania, where she visited friends and relatives. Vann McBryde visited friends at Surf City last weekend. Miss Fowler, who is to be married to Stephen Durham on August 14, was presented a corsage of yellow and white daisies. Yellow and blue daisies were used on the refreshment table which was spread with a yellow cloth. Punch, pound cake, nuts and mints were served. * * ? Mrs. Julian Barnes and Mrs. Wayne Bundy entertained with a lingerie shower at the Barnes home last week. Upon her arrival, Miss Fowler was presented with a corsage of pink rosebuds and gifts by the hostesses. The dining room table, covered with a pink and white cloth, was centered with an arrangement of daisies, pink roses and white candles. The 15 guests were served bridal cake squares, nuts and punch. -i College News Wilbert Morris of Raeford was named to the dean's list at Fay etteville State university for the 1975-76 second semester. Students must earn a 3.2 or higher grade point average while carrying at least 12 credit hours. Thirteen area persons are among 3,283 East Carolina University students who earned places on honors lists for the spring quarter. Those making an "all A" average were James D. Crissman, Ashley Heights, and Barbara Ann Plummer, Rt. 2, Raeford. Those making a "B-plus" average with no grade below C were Kathy Diane Currie, 207 Roberts St.; Charles Eugene Davis, 306 N.
