J to sightsee. "I went everywhere with my roommates. There were twelve of us from the USA in one room. I knew most of them from other meets and from the trials in Oregon. We went down to Old Montreal and saw the horse and buggies and we rode the new Metro. Mostly we just stayed in the Village," she added. Kathy said that she didn't meet many celebrities other than the athletes themselves. "I did get Howard Cosell's autograph," she explained. "And, 1 got Sugar Ray Leonard's too. I really like Sugar Ray. He showed me a big knot on his knuckle. He was really in pain when he was fighting. Cosell? He was just like anybody else." Other than a constantly ringing telephone, the McMillan household is pretty much back to normal. McGougan, at home Mrs. Lauren Keeter's mother, Mrs. Lawrence Batchelor of Red Springs is a patient at McCain and is very ill. Mr. and Mrs. J. Edwin Clifton. Jr. returned home Monday night from Washington, D.C. They visited Mr. Clifton's sister. Mr. and Mrs. Ewell Mohler. Their sons. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schropp and family in Silver Springs and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Schropp and family in Columbia. On the way home they stopped for a visit with Mr. Clifton's former secretary. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Wollett in Mt. Holly. Virginia. Glen Clark and daughter. Mrs. Jean Johnson of Raeford, spent from Monday until Friday with his son and family in Texas. Mrs. J.C. Chason spent last week in Siler City with her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Tim Nance. Graduating exercises will be held at Campbell College. Buies Creek. Friday. August 6. Miss Wanda Ammons is in the graduating class. The Lumber Bridge Group To Compile History of the township during the Bicentennial year met last Wednesday night at the Pres byterian church. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesdav night. August 1 1 at 8 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Sumner visited Mrs. Ethel D. Gibson Sunday afternoon. Eddie Caddell of Raleigh spent Saturday and Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Caddell. He visited his grand mother, Mrs. E.R. Wickline. Cecil Davis, a patient for the past two weeks at Cape Fear Valley. Hospital, is improving. Mrs. Brenda K. Tyner is a patient at Southeastern General Hospital. Lumberton. and under went surgery on Tuesday. Mrs. Elizabeth Tolar of Lumber ton spent Sunday and Monday with Miss Mildred Williford. Mr. and Mrs. Worth Williford of Fayetteville visited Mrs. A.F. Tolar Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Balfour spend Monday in Asheboro. Mclnnig Clan Reunion Aug. 15 The Mclnnis clan will hold their annual family reunion Sunday. The second place silver medal from the Montreal Olympics gave Kathy some trouble when she first received it. So many Jans wanted to touch it that the link on top of the medal became unscrewed and bent, and then had to be replaced.
