The Choir, under the direction of Miss Eva Wiseman, is widely recognized for the excellent vocal talent of such young boys. Since its founding and organization by Miss Wiseman in 1959, the choir has had a membership of approxi mately 250 young boys who have known the discipline and hard work required in learning a rep ertoire of music literature ranging from the early church music to the contemporary music of the twen tieth century. Rehearsals are held throughout the year three times a week. During the summer, the boys attend two music camps, one at the seashore and the other in Western North Carolina, where profession al. experienced teachers prepare them for their year ahead. All of the choir boys work in a training group for at least one year before they may become a member of the performing choir. The Burlington Boys Choir has performed throughout the eastern United States during the past 18 years. They have sung at the White House on special invitation and the Governor's Mansion in Raleigh. The Choir made their third inter national European tour during the summer of 1976, singing before large audiences in cathedrals in Austria, Germany, Holland, Italy, France and Switzerland. The Choir has been invited to represent the United States this summer on a goodwill tour to Spain. Admission tickets (adults $2 and students $1) may be purchased from any member of the Chami nade Music Club. Mrs. Gene Carter is Club President.
