i! lam bar BrMji Nmm by Lib Sumter 1 | I For the past two weeks T.C. Chason, Mike Chason, ^Mrs. Hunter Forbes and Elbert Forbes had their beans picked for the market. They gave the community privilege to gather beans for canning and table use. There was a large crowd picking beans each day. This was very thoughtful of the owner's and everyone really ap preciated this opportunity to get beans for the winter months. Two weeks ago Mrs. John Covington spent Thursday until Sunday in Raleigh with Mr. and Mrs. Jon Evans. Misses Allison and Susan Evans. On Saturday night they, with a .group of friends attended a dinner with Perry Como at the Piccolo Mondo Restorante. Mr. Como was playing golf at the Duke Classics in Durham. Mrs. Ethel Gibson spent Friday night until Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Sumner and Miss Pamela Sumner. Mr. and Mrs. Tim Nance of Slier City spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. J.C. Chason. Mrs. Clinto Jackson entered Scotland Memorial Hospital, Laurinburg Tuesday afternoon. Richard Cox has been a patient in Southeastern General Hospital, Lumberton for a week. Visiting Mrs. John Covington Sunday afternoon was Mrs. Virginia Benson of Fayetteville. Mrs. Benson was a former Director of Nurses at Pittman Hospital. Mrs. Billy Troutman and grand son Ricky Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wooley and children spent last weekend with Mrs. Dewey Troutman in Statesville. Mr. and Mrs. J. Edwin Clifton, Jr., returned Tuesday after visiting their sons, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schropp and family in Silver springs, Maryland, Mr. and Mrs. Dewane Schropp and family in Sykesville, Maryland. They also visited Mr. Cliftons sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ewell Mohler in Hyattsville, Maryland. Their other two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schropp and family and Roy Schropp from Pennsylvania met them in Getts burg for a picnic lunch. On their way home they stopped in Frederick, Maryland for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Keenan. Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Williford of Siler City and Mr. and Mrs. Worth Williford of Fayetteville spent Sunday with Miss Mildred Willi ford and Mrs. A.F. Tolar. Mr. and Mrs. John E. Sumner of Fayetteville spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Sumner and Miss Pamela Sumner. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kelly, Mrs. Sam Bennett and Brandon of Wilmington spent Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. S.E. Sumner and Miss Pamela Sumner. The community extends sym pathy to Mr. and Mrs. Wilber Spears in the loss of his brother who was buried in Fayetteville. Friday. Films At Library For Children The Hoke County Library will host a film and storytime for children ages 6 - 12 on Wednesday, June 22, at 1:30 p.m. Films to be shown are "The Winter of the Witch" and "Black Widow Spider: Her Life Cycle and Enemies' .
