The dinner was held a week earlier than the traditional day because schools were to be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Theatrics Offered At Pembroke State i ? The Performing Arts Center of Pembroke State University is proud to announce that it will offer THEATRICS, a unique series of workshops in creative dramatics for young people, the first such classes in the area. THEATRICS will consist of six classes each for ages 6-12 and 12-15 to be held each Saturday from January 15 through February 19, 1983 in the Performing Arts Cen ter. The instructor for these work shops will be Mrs. Sherry Levy who holds a BFA in theatre and music from Case Western Reserve Uni versity in Cleveland, Ohio. Mrs. Levy has a vast background in . professional theatreTfwith strong " emphasis on children's theatre, voice and movement. She is quite excited about THEATRICS, stating that creative dramatics has long been proven to be a great asset in the development of imagination and communication with young people of all ages. While providing a great deal of fun for students, it helps them to gain confidence in themselves. The cost of the series of six classes is S35.00 per student, then $20.00 for each additional student from the same family. Classes for students age 6-12 will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 noon, and those for ages 12-15 held from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. each Saturday from January 15 through February 19. Registration forms are available now and may be obtained by calling the Performing Arts Center at 521-0778 or 521-0308. Gass size is limited so interested parents are urged to register early. Fire Safety Taught The Hoke County 4-H program in cooperation with rural Hoke County and Raeford fire depart ments recently finished conducting a series of classes on fire safety for youth. The classes were held at the fire departments in each community, and youth attended classes taught by volunteer firemen for four to six weeks. Each youth attending at least three sessions received a certificate. All ten fire departments in Hoke County participated including Rae ford. North Raeford, Pinehill, West Hoke, Antioch, Tylertown, Hillcrest, Puppy Creek, Stonewall and Rockfish. Classes were taught on types of fire extinguishers, classes of fires, home Tire escape plans, the chem istry of fire, and fire hazards. Approximately 160 youth parti cipated in the classes.
