"The Wedding Song and "The Wedding Prayer were sung. * k TrC bride' given in marriage by her father, wore a wedding gown of georgette over taffeta, with yueen Ann neckline trimmed in re embroidered appliqued lace, with an empire waistline and a train edged with tiny lace flowers Her veil was attached to a tiaria covered with seed pearls, matching lace and orange blossoms. It was trimmed with identical lace and edging to that of the gown. She wore a single strand of pearls W htd been her maternai grandmother's. Her bouquet was of white day lillies. roses and baby s breath with white streamers, all of silk flowers, made and designed by her mother. Mrs. Frances Edwards Hager served as matron of honor. She wore a yellow floor length gown of sheer duco-dot taffeta with fitted waistline and sash, tying in back. Hie dress had a natural train. Her sheer white hat was decorated with yellow ribbon and streamers. She carried a bouquet of silk flowers with yellow day lillies and roses with yellow and aqua streamers. Teressa McCloud, Rebecca Hines, Pamela Bostic and Susan McKeithan, served as bridesmaids, rhey wore gowns and hats of 1- pastel aqua and carried bouquets lAnI1?Ca' to ,he matron Of honor. All flowers were designed and ar ranged by the bride's mother. Heather Leigh Hager served as flower girl. She wore a full length white organza gown and carried a white wicker basket, decorated in aqua, yellow and white silk flowers with tiny streamers, from which ^ she dropped rose petals. The groom, attended by James E. Hager, Jr. as best man, wore a white tuxedo with yellow carnation boutonniere. Danny Ray Hayward, David , ayne Hager, Joseph Masso and Jamie Huggins were ushers. They wore navy tuxedos and white boutonnieres. Carl Adam Barrington. III. was ringbearer. Mrs. Erastus Zimmimon Huggins, III The mother of the bride wore a pink floor length gown and an or chid corsage. The groom's mother wore a lavender floor length gown and an orchid corsage. The wedding was directed by Mrs. Carl A. Barrington, Jr. The bride is a graduate of Hoke County High School. She is a part ner and manager of Peggy's Fashions at Stedman. The groom is also a graduate of Hoke County High School. He is employed in paint and wallpaper sales at Cal-Tone Paint and Wallpaper Company in Fayet teville. After a wedding trip to Holden Beach and Charleston, South Carolina, the couple will be at home at Hope Mills. RECEPTION A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents follow ing the ceremony. The Hayward home was tastefully decorated with magnolia blossoms and leaves throughout the entertaining rooms. Arrangements of gardenias, daisies and summer flowers were placed on appropriate tables. Hosting the reception were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Dunn Hayward. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Loftus, and Mr. and Mrs. A1 Bokeny. The receiving line consisted of the bride and groom, their parents, and members of the wedding par ty Mrs. Willa Jones, Mrs. Margaret Finch and Mrs. Bonnie Davis took turns pouring punch. Mrs. Frances Vassar and Mrs. Lucy Finch served the wedding cake. Tea girls were Amy Black, Noel Jones, Missy Jones and Briget Finch. The bride's book was kept by Patricia Hayward Hines. Goodbyes were said to Mr. and Mrs. John Finch. Rice bags and wedding pro grams were handed out by the tea girls. Music was provided by Gary Vassar at the organ. REHEARSAL DINNER An after rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's parents Saturday evening, in the church fellowship hall. Approximately 30 guests were served fried chicken and ham dinner with accessories, and cake for dessert. The tables, covered with yellow cloths, were centered with yellow roses and candles. The bride and groom-elect presented all members of the wed ding party with gifts. BRIDESMAIDS LUNCHEON Mrs. Irene Grant and daughter, Mrs. Wanda Davis, were hostesses at a bridesmaids luncheon at the home of the former. The bride-elect was presented a corsage upon arrival, and later a plate in her chosen china pattern. The Grant home was decorated throughout with arrangements of yellow and white summer flowers. Twelve guests were seated in the dining room and enjoyed a meal consisting of cornish hens, broc coli topped with cheese, wild rice, three-layered green salad, and a dessert of strawberry shortcake OUT-OF-TOWN-GUESTS Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Gary Vassar and Deana, and Mr. and Mrs. John Finch of Wake Forest, Mrs. Margaret Finch and Clark Finch of Youngsville, Mr. and Mrs. James Finch and Briget Finch of Bailey. Miss Strother Feted At Bridal Parties Miss Angela Strother, bride-elect of James Charles Turner, next Sunday, June 25, has been feted at several recent parties. Mrs. Avery Connell, Mrs. Pat Sappenfield. Misses Carolyn Wil burn and Carta Sappenfield were hostesses at a party at the Connell home for the bride-elect. Friends and contemporaries of the honoree gathered at 8:00 p.m. During the evening they showered Miss Strother with gifts of lingerie. Refreshments of punch, cake squares, nuts and fresh fruits were served from the dining table, covered with a lace cloth and centered with a five-branched candelbra, holding lighted tapers, and an arrangement of yellow and orange spring flowers. Mrs. Robert Dewey Strother, mother of the bride, presided at the punch bowl. The hostesses remembered the bride-elect with gifts of lingerie. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Teal of Ashley Heights were hosts at a luncheon at their home. Thursday, June 2, honoring Miss Strother. Special guests here for the occasion were seven brothers and one sister of the bride-elect's late father, Robert Dewey Strother, The Teal home was decorated throughout with roses. Guests were seated at l:oo p.m. for a superb four course luncheon. The bride-elect was presented gifts from the hosts and from each person present. Foster Children Attend Rehearsal Showing of 'Annie' Thirteen Hoke County foster children were among the fifty foster children from Hoke, Moore, Rich mond. and Chatham Counties who were invited by Mannie Shaw, owner of Mannie's Dinner Theater/Cheese and Things, Southern Pines, North Carolina, to view a dress rehearsal showing of "Annie". June 12. 1983. The children and attending adults were served refreshments and lots of fine Sunday afternoon entertainment. "Annie" opens at Mannie's Dinner Theater June 16, 1983, and will run through the end of August. 1983 with performances on Thursday. Friday. Saturday, and Sunday nights weekly. Glenn Clark Honored On 82nd Birthday Glenn Clark, who recently moved back to Raeford along with his spouse, after living in Lumber Bridge for many years, was honored by his family Sunday in celebration of his 82nd birthday. A bountiful covered dish lunch eon was enjoyed at the Clark home on Bethel Road. Mr. Clark's son and daughter-in law. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Clark of Charlotte, his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Kathy Clark of Charleston, his daughter. Mrs. June Johnson, and members of her family here in Raeford. and Lew Flader, a relative from Charleston, were present for the occasion. Those present remembered the honored with many gifts.
