Strutters take on solons
The locally infamous Raeford
Hoke Chamber of Commerce
(turkey) Strutters are slated to take
on the North Carolina Legislative
team in a basketball game ten
tatively scheduled for May 8 at Up
church Junior High School at 7
p.m..
The event is planned to raise
money for the depot restoration
and to allow the legislative team
another chance to come back from
the bruising they received at the
hands of the South Carolina
Legislative team recently.
Tickets will be $2 for adults and
$1 for children, and backers are
hoping to attract a crowd of over
1 ,000 to support the home team in
their first official outing.
The Strutters are expected to
sport the new "Strut Your
Stuffin" Turkey Festival logo on
florescent T-shirts, as they try to
dribble their way to victory over
the wily solons.
If their basketball skills do not
work on the lawmakers, the Strut
ters hope the T-'shirts will blur their
opponents' vision.
Tickets for the contest will be on
sale at the Chamber office.
Trackmen keep winning
The Hoke County High School
Boys' Track Team had another im
pressive finish last week as they
beat five of eight teams in an all

close behind with 76 points,
Barkley said.
According to the coach, John

Buck attack.
The 800 meter relay team scored
the only win for Hoke.
Pickett, Baker, Joseph
Allbrooks and Carpenter made up
that team.
The next meet for the Bucks is
Wednesday in Scotland County.
The Hoke High Girls' Track

Old Division Conference last
Wednesday at Hoke High.
The Hoke girls finished with 49

100 meter dash in 12.47 seconds
and the 200 meter dash in 25.64
seconds.
Icesonnia Horsley placed second
