March 12, 1997 THE NEWS-JOURNAL Raeford, N.C Social Events Weddin Engagement Anniversary Anna Mae and Brown Hendrix as newlyweds and now (below) Winchester - Wert Nicholas -O’Reilly Traci Renee Wert and Charles Pinckney Winchester were united in marriage on Feb. 8 in a 5 p.m. cer emony in the Raeford United Meth odist Church with the Rev. Carson Tyson officiating. The bride is the daughter of Robert and Andrea Wert of Woking, Surrey, England. She is a graduate of Loveland High School and Meredith College. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald P. Winchester of Fayetteville and Mr. and Mrs. Randall Moss of Aberdeen. He is a graduate of Hoke County High School, N.C. Wesleyan College and Wake Techni cal Comn^unity Cpllege,^nd is, em-; ■ployed with it. ' The bride was escorted by her fa ther, Robert Wert. Her maid of honor was Holly A. Corno of Wendell. Her bridesmaids were Joanna Harrell of Knightdale and Heather Scarberry of Daleville, Ind. His best man was Gerald Win chester, father of the groom. Ushers were David Newton of Raeford, Trav is Wert of Garner, Tho mas Gaddy of Asheville and Donald Lindsay of Fayetteville. Her flower girl was Natalie Ferrebee of Muncie, Ind. Ringbearer was Greer Crowder of Raeford. The rehearsal dinner was held on Feb. 7 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Townsend of Raeford. Assist ing at the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gillis, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Young, Mr. and Mrs. Raz Autry Jr., Mrs. Edith Best and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Wood Sr., all of Raeford. The wedding reception was held on Feb. 8 at The Pinehurst Hotel given by the parents of the bride. After a wedding trip the couple will live in Jacksonville, N.C. Dr. And Mrs. Paul Nicholas of Columbia, Md. announce the engage ment of their daughter, Amy Lynne Nicholas, to Patrick VincentO’Reilly of Huntington, N.Y. The bride-elect is also the grand daughter of Mrs. Briggs Burnett and the late Paul Burnett of Raeford. She is a graduate of Oakland Mills High School and Towson State University with a bachelor of science degree and she iscurrently a middle school teacher in Prince George’s. The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick O’Reilly of Hun tington, N.Y. He is a graduate of Walt Whitman High School and Towson State University with a bachelor of science degree in biology and also a certification in orthotics from the University of Connecticut Newington Certificate Program. He is a resident orthotist at Dankmeyer Prosthetics and Orthotics, Inc. in Linthicum, Md. Anna Mae and Brown were mar ried on March 1,1947 in the Raeford Methodist Church parsonage by Rev. W. L. Maness. Their five children are: Martha Ann Beal, Kathy Keisler, and Brown Hendrix Jr., all of Raeford; David Hendrix of Pinehurst and Pat Gaudet of Charlotte. The seven grand children are Amber, John Allen & Sammy Hendrix, Michelle McMillan and Ricky & Mark Gaudet. Brown served with the 540th En gineers during World War II and Anna Mae worked for several years at Fort Bragg during and after the war. Brown owned and operated a grocery store at Arabia until they built a golf course in 1962. For the past 35 years they hav^ owned and operated the Arabia Golf Course on Golf Course Road in Hok^ County. They are longtime members of Sandy Grove United Methodisf Church where they were honored a( Homecoming last October and wher^ Anna Mae teaches the Wills Jone$ Sunday School Class. !
