COGGINS IN MEMORY OF CHARLES I From a prison to a mansion I prefer to go To be with Him who loved me so, Where from pain and fear I shall be free, Throughout a long eternity. II For I have heard these clanking doors so long I am homesick for that land of song, Where the angels wait to conduct me there, j To my own mansion, bright and , fair. III ' Where the streets I am told are paved with gold, And the citizens never more grow old, And Jesus the Lamb will dry my Through the happy, joyful, end less years. IV For 1 have sniveled and tremmea in this dark cell, Till it seemed my soul was on the brink of hell, The hours have been long and the nights so black, Till it seemed as if I would lose the track.' V But by the grace of God I have fought a good fight, And tomorrow at 7:30 will end this night, For they tell me now the die is cast, And tomorrow morning will be my last. VI Though the chair I dread you surely see. But I remember Jesus who died for me, So I’ll hold to His unchanging hand, Who will carry me through to the promise land. VII Since God has saved me from my sin, I wanted to live like other men, And witness for Him in this dark world, And try and save some boy or girl. But up from the chair my soul shall fly, Far, far away beyond the sky, For with this prison I shall be through, And to the angels I’ll say how do-you-do. IX Where my friends I’ll meet who have run the race, Will greet me there with a smil ing face, While angels strike their harps of gold, To bid me welcome from this prison so cold. X Then Jesus my Savior will look at me, Different from the officers of the penitentiary, House which had been her home for so many years. No lights gleamed within, and silence en gulfed the scene where before there had been great activity. President Truman, Mrs. Tru man and their daughter, Mary Margaret are not expected to move into the executive mansion for several days because there will have to be some redecorating of the family apartments on the second floor. This morning 20 Army trucks loaded with personal belongings of the Roosevelt family rolled out of the gates. As a White House guard put it, there wasn’t enough room left in any of them for a teaspoon.” ' A station wagon left half filied with clothing of Anna Roosevelt Boettiger and her husband, Col onel Boettiger. The Boettigers planned to take up temporary res idence at the Shoreham Hotel here. Mrs. Boettiger was delayed' with her packing because of the serious illness of her young son, Johnny, a patient in Walter Reed House a bill granting the Ptesi hospital. The Senate this tafternoon un animously passed and sent to the dent’s widow free mailing privi leges for life. This is customary. I And five me a harp and a robe so white, I While my soul 4ball dance with wondrous delight. XI Now to my friends a warning I Look to Jesus now and live, Walk with Him’ up the shining way, • - - That leads to the land of perfect day. Written by REV.
