The wedding of Mrs. Frances London Smith and Mr. Daniel Edward Winfrey, was solemnized Sunday afternoon at 5 o’clock in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamlet, with Rev. Her man P. Wyrick, pastor of the bride, officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Cassie M. London of Ham let and Mr. D. M. London of Cherryville. The groom is the son of Mrs. C. M. Winfrey of Washington, D. C. Prior to the ceremony, a pro gram of nuptial music was pre sented by Mrs. Jake Carter of Albemarle, organist, and Mr. Wil liam R. Henry of Charlotte, vo calist, who sang ‘‘The Sweetest Story Ever Told,” ‘‘O Promise Me” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” The bride entered the church on the arm of her brother, Glenn L. London, who gave her in mar riage. She wore a dress of frost ed dawn pink crystalette, fash ioned in princess lines with a full Whirling skirt, and featuring a short jacket of the same mater ial. She wore a small matching hat, embroidered with tiny seed pearls and irridescent sequents. She carried a white lace covered P,ible, topped with a purple throated orchid. Mrs. Glenn L. London, her only attendant, was matron of honor. Her dress of sky blue silk and cotton, featured a high empress busline, and full skirt. She wore a matching hat sprinkled with rhinestones and carried a bouquet of pink carnations and white mums. Mr. J. D. Nash of Ham let was his nephew’s best man. Larry London, nephew of the bride lighted the candles. Ushers were Mr. Bill London of Char lotte. brother of the bride and Mr. James Walton of Hamlet. The mother of the bride chose a mauve lace dress with white accessories and wore a shoulder corsage of white carnations. The mother of the groom wore a black dress with white accessor ies and a shoulder corsage of white carnations. Following the ceremony the bride and groom received in the vestibule of the church. The couple left for a wedding trip to the mountains of Western North Carolina and Tennessee. Ope Dora Womans C lub Holds Meeting Tin* Dora Womna’s Club held their regular meeting Sept. 4th at 5 o’clock. The club room was decorated with pretty fall flowers and the large table was centered with a. pretty arranginent of flow ers carrying out the fall season. The hostesses. Mi's. Forrest Oui ton and Mrs. Thomas Ayers, serv ed delicious cookies, pickles and Cokes to the members present. Inabelle Coleman Circle Meets The Inabelle Coleman Circle of the First Baptist Church held its regular monthly meeting Mon day night at 7:30 o’clock with fourteen members present. Hos tesses for this meeting were Mrs. A. B. Beam and Mrs. John Da vid Beam. The meeting opened with the President giving a devotion. Lutheran Women Met Monday Night Thp Women of the Church of St. John’s Lutheran £"hurch held their first joint meeting of the year Monday night at 7:30 in the Sunday School Assembly. There was a large attendance from each of the four circles. Mrs. Emmett Houser, vive president, conducted a meaningful devotional period. The report of the 69th annual convention of the Womens Mis sionary Society of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church held at Lenoir Rhyne College on Aug. 2l-22-23rd was given in a force-] ful and impressive manner by Mi’S. D R. Mauney, Jr., delegate I to the convention. A short and devout thank offer. J ing service was conducted by Mrs. | Rlaine Dellinger, during which time the quarterly ingathering of the thank offering was received. Life Membership pins and rtificates were presented from the society to Mrs. Julia Hall and Mrs. J. Ben Dellinger in a most reverent and gracious manner by Mrs L. Edwin Rudisill. Mrs. D. R. Mauney, Jr., Presi dent of the Society, presided over an enthusiastic business session. The assembly expressed its appre ciation to the Year Book commit tee composed of Mrs. Heman Hall, Mrs. Heber Eaker and Mrs. Em mett Houser, for the splendid 19.r>4-r)5 Year Book. Each circle announced its recently acquired name and its special- project for the coming year. Miss Marie Huss, Mission Study Secretary, announced that a M;s sion Study work-shop would be held at St. Paul’s Church in Dal las on September 2-r>th. Mrs. Hoke Quickel gave a detailed report concerning the society’s work with the junior choir. Mrs. Roy Houser gave an informative re port from the Bereavement Com A committee composed of Mr;. Carlyle Summer, Mrs. Stuart Shu mate, Mrs. W. P. Fitzhugh, and Mrs. Norman Warlick was ap pointed to supervise the Girl Scout proa-ram sponsored by the Society The Women of the Church unanimously voted to invite the Southern Conference to be their guest at a Fall-Fellowship Dinner to be held in early November. The following steering- committee for the dinner was appointed: Mrs. Juiia Hall, Mrs. C. A. Rudisill, Mrs. D. R. Mauney, Sr., and Mrs. W H. Houser. Jr. 1 he assembly voted to pledge four shares to the Sullivan-Ader holdt Fund. A committee composed of Mrs. Heman Hall, Mrs. J. Ben Delling er, Mrs. Leroy Trexler, Miss Lavinia Rudisill. and Mrs. Tom White was appointed to draft a constitution for. the Women of the Chuu-h and to present it at the next quarter meeting.
