attended the 1946 Extension pro
gram at State Coll-sge, Raleigh
July 23-28. Miss Patterson serv
ed as chairman for the North
eastern district and presented
suggestions from this district for
next year’s plan of work. She
also served on the food conserva
tion committee and presented re
commendational and plans for
the 1946 state food conservation
program during the final ses
sion of the conference Frdiay,
July 27th.

Revival Slated
Middle Swamp. — The Rev.
Sidney Cobbs of Whaleyville,
Va., will be the guest preacher
when revival services open Mon
day night at Middle Swamp Bap
tist Church, according to an an
nouncement.
Services will begin each night
during the week, ending Sun
day, at 8:30, the announcement
said.

day evening. She has been the
guest of Miss Rachel Jane Hof
ler.
Games and contests were play
ed during the evening. Iced
drinks, ice cream, cookies and
salted peanuts were served by
the hostess, assisted by Mrs. L.

MISS LANG IMPROVING

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. E.
Lang of Gatesville, is improv
ing at Lake View Hospital in
Suffolk. She underwent an ap
pendectomy.

turned to his home here in an
improved condition after being
a patient in a Suffolk hospital.

above, who for eight months
was a prisoner of the Germans
in Europe, and Miss Carrie
Belle Carter of Gatesville, were
married July 26.

S. Carter of Gatesville, N. C.,
announce the marriage of their
daughter, Carrie Belle, to Staff
Sergeant Harry A. Liniger, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Liniger,
also of Gatesville.
The wedding took place in
Dillion on July 26.
Waist gunner on a Flying
Fortress, Sgt. Liniger was shot
down over enemy occupied
Europe in 1944 and for eight
months was a prisoner of the
Germans. He was liberated as
the war ended.
They will leave Gatesville on
August 11 for Miami Beach when
Sgt. Liniger is scheduled to re
port for duty.
