Perhaps one of the best and strong est evidences of the world's moral im provement, is to be found in the con . demnation, which is becoming more frequent, that is placed upoif question able trade or business methods of get ting money, if not riches. The weight and power or money is very terrible in its strength, and ability to accomplish things, but it cannot be fully substantiated in this day that money can control every thing, can purchase ' men and women as though they were chattels, and absolutely cruBh any power that might be aimed against its demands in wrong doing. This does not mean that men and women cannot be bought, or that souls will not be exchanged for wealth, but each year there is an increasing force for good, for morality, and character, which places manhood and womanhood further beyond the comparison of their possible exchange for gold or its equiva lent The recent protest against receiving the John D. Rockefeller gift by the Congregationists of New England shows that there is public sentiment which can be shocked, and will declare against the violation of the moral code in trade, although Mr. Rockefeller may have dealt and secured his hundreds of mil lions of dollars by accepted trade ethics which has saved him from the punish ment under the moral statute. Because churches and colleges and schools have been built and maintained upon money received which was made by questionable if not notorious meth ods, ft does lessen the fact of the taint and dishonor connected with the obtain ing of the money. The knight of the road a few ccnturfts ago relieved the rich of their purses, and eased the guilt or the act by a profuse generosity to the poor or some priest The Rocke feller of today takes the advantage of the consumer, and with the tribute ex acted builds colleges, hospiUb and gives to minions, as an equivalent or atonement for his act Neither man has been condemned, m bis time and day, except by minority or his fellows, for beneath h. all there haa been the question if tjiy of the ac cepted business Methods had been vio lated, or sufficiently proven against the presumed offenders, except upon moral grounds, so that they might Hot pursue their ways, and lake and give as had twen their custom during their Uvea. ' But it is a matter of tongratuktion that there Is a disapproval growing which wiU make less acceptable each year, the hitherto accepted bealneee ethics, which gave ne account as U morels, but built op fortunes through force, without the eomederstkm of right or wrong. There is no happier man in this whole wide world today than Sam A. Hoover, of Greensboro, N. C., who is receiving the congratulations of his friends upon his fortunate find of something better than gold mines or oil wells. Mr. Hoover in a letter to a friend in New Born writes: Three months ago I was greatly dis tressed by nasal catarrh and entire deaf nessin the right ear. The labor of hawking and scraping to get my throat and nasal passages free from the foul secretions deposited there, might be about ooual to that -of a six mule team with t road scraper to get the earth from the road-side to the center. I purchased an outfit of Hyomei and Hyomei balm,' and as result of Its use my head, throat and nasal passages are all free from secretions of any sort. only as nature designed, and my hear- ing in both ears is nearly as acute as It ever was." There is no disagreeble stomach doe- ing in using Hyomi; Just breath it and its pure fragrance will kill the catarrh- a! germ In the head, throat and hmga Hyomei balm used In connection with Hyomei will cure the worst case of et- tarrhal deafness. The complete outfit costs but $1, and extra bottlee are only BOe. Ask R : & Duffy to show yon the strong guarantee' under which he soils Hyomei. It costs nothing unless It cures. . . . , " r .
