A special train is to be run from here to Goldsboro next Tuesday for the con venienoe of all who may wish to hear Patti Rjss at the opera house that evening. It will leave at 4 o'olook in the afternoon and return immediately after the performance. Fare for round trip includiog admission to opera, only $1 50. The Pair Not Abandoned. Tbe announcement yesterday morn- rng that the holding of a Game. Fish and Oyster Fair in this city sometime during the winter or early sprang had oean abandoned for lack of funds to pay the incidental expenses was quite a surprise to many of our citizens and we are glad to be able to announce that the prospects are that it will be held. We hope to be able to announce tomorrow that a sufficient amount has been pledged to insure the success of tbe Fair. The English Opera Company. In reference to the English Opera Company that performs here nextrrl day nUbt, th Spriniifield, Ohio Gazette says: "An excellent operatic performance was given at Blach's opera bouse lal night by the Beneberg Company, and it was keenly enjityed by tbe large audi ence present. Miss Brnsherg, tbe prima donna soprano, has a tone and execution as phenomenal as Patti 'e. Thomas cburcb, in this county, on the Neuse road eleven milea above New Berne, tbe oorner stone of which was laid on the 17th of August last, is in process of erection, and aa the limited means of the community are about ex hausted it is very desirous, by those ooncerned in its erection, that all those who are willing to help the work for ward, in New Berne or elsewhere, will come to the rescue now and complete the building, sending their contribu tions to Rev. On the 22d, 23d. 24th and 85th in tanta the Atlantic Coast Line Railroads will have on aale at all of their stations what are called "Holiday Exouraion" tickets. These ticket will be sold from any station of the line to any other, as may be desired, for one first class fare, and will be good for the return trip between such stations at any time until tbe 2d of January inclusive. In other words the 'ticket will be sold at half price for the round trip. Tickets with the same privileges will also be sold on December 29 tb, HOth and 31t, but tbe the tickets sold on these dates will be available for the return trip until Janu ary Stb, inclusive. The low rates offered will no doubt cause the interchange of many agreeable visit among our neighbors on tbe routes of the Atlantic Coast Line during the holidays, and will be at once an accommodation to the public and a aource of revenue to the railroad com panies. C, Dec. 14 The bill to regulate immigration introduoed in tbe Senate today by Mr. Rjutgan, authorizes tbe Secretary of the Treasury to appoint inspectors of immigration, who shall have tbe power to board ves sels and remove immigrants therefrom, in order to ascertain whether thev are prohibited from landing under this act. The master of tbe vessel must pro uce a certificate from each immigrant, showing that such immigrant is neither a criminal, a pauper, nor an idiot, and is not an assisted immigrant, nor under contract to labor in the United States. It is made lawful for any body inter dicted by this act to enter ihe country. All such unfit peis ms sbll be returned at the expense of ibe owners of immi grant vessels. The YYoolfolk Trial.
