Governor Scales andte Deris Cadets A Large Crowd Varpeted. The work cf preparing for the Fair was pushed with vigor yesterday and continued until 12 o'clock last night It will be resumed early Monday morning and everything will be ready for the formal opening of the Fair by Governor Scales at 13 o'clock Tuesday. It is now certain that we will have one of the most attractive exhibits ever seen in North Carolina, and that a large crowd will be in attendance. Gover nor Soales will be eeoorted from Golds- boro by the Davis Cadets on Monday evening. Full program will be an Douooed Tuesday morning. Bureau of Information. The Superintendent will be at his offioe, corner of Broad and Middle streets, on Monday from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m., and would be glad to see as many persons as possible in reference to en tertaining the crowd during the Fair. It is proposed that guests sent out shall pay in advance at the Bureau and be furnished with tickets which will be taken up by those who entertain and cashed by the Superintendent on 'pres entation. The publio can be fully informed by applying at the Bureau. Big Sales. Capt. Enloe has aobj. in this city this winter eighty-three borsee and mules for cash aggregating (9,895.00. When this is put to the immense sales mads by Stewart for cash arid on time, and the sales made by other dealers some idea can be given of the amount of money spent in this section eaph year for stock. This is a drain upon our farmers that ought to be stopped. Horsee and mules oan be raised as easy and as profitably in Eastern North Caro lina as anywhere, but it eeems that our farmers don't get at it. But does not Capt. Enloe 's sales show that there it more money among our farmers than had been supposed ? Who would "have thought last fall, with the general complaint of short crops, tbat even eighty horsee and mules (there must have been at least two hundred) could have been sold to farmers for cash? Yet it bas been done and we think it a favorable sign that they are improving financially. Floral Committee. Tne members of the oommittee are re quested to meet at the graded sobool rooms on Monday, the 13th inst at 10 o'clock a.m. All persons who have flowers or plants whioh thsy are willing to have exhibit ed at the Fair are requested to notify any member of the committee. Plants and flowers will be called for and r e- turnei to the owners free of charge and the best of care as to heat, ventilation, eto. will be given them while on exhi bition. The oommittee consists of the follow ing ladies and gentlemen: Messrs. W. B. Boyd, George Hender son, M. DeW. Stevenson, John Ives, A. M. Baker, Sam. Badoliff, Dr. Oeo. L. Shackelford, Dr. John D.
