Editor Jocknal It is understood that a number of Northern ex-soldiers of Ihe late war between the States are to be visitors to our city and Fair this week. If these gentlemen ire to be here, it will be right and proper for some more then oomrnon courtesy to be extended to them. If no steps have yet been taken by the city authorities and citizens for tbeir special entertain ment, immediate arrangements should be perfected to the end that these Northern risitors be received with broad and warm hospitality, such as characterised the citizens of both Nor thern and Southern towns and cities under similar circumstance. I trust that New Berne will not be thesiocnlar exoeption to a custom and practice so promotive of friendship and patriotism, aad so ia keeping with th past history of New Berne people. Very truly.
