Wilmington MeaneiiKur: An interest ing and sympathetic letter from W. P. Fife, Esq., the "drummer rovivalist," nforms us that at rulmore, in Robeson oounty, ho has been conducting a scries meetings with uroat results. There were 800 white llr) colored-porsens who confessed Christ and fcave him their hands. Fie says ho adopts the same plan Mr. Pearson does. In ono day 130 came forward, lie says: "The neigh borhood young men went to work and built me a tabernacle in which to hold service, and of tho comnultoo that in vited me four of tho livo were whiskey drinking church members. I go to Lumberton on Monday. Pray (iod for an outpouring of his Holy Spirit." Wilmington Star: The "Elixir of Life" has boen found at least the Ldarkeys of Brooklyn think so in the waters that gush forth in unending flow from the artesian well of the Clarendon Water Works Company at Hilton. The water comes from a depth of about five hundred feet, is cool and clear as crystal, and is not altogether unpleasant to tho taste ot those who profess a fondness for the mineral waters of the shops, although it is I trifle saline and chalky. But the dark eys who drank it first out ot curiosity, and then learned to like it, say that its use has effected marvellous cures of dyspepsia, liver complaint and kindred ills that ilesh is heir to, and the fame of Its wonderful curative powers is rapid ly spreading throughout tho city Crowds of colored people visit the well daily and carry oil quantities of the water to their homes, and it would be a bitter disappointment to many ot them if the further progrees of tho work should necessitate tho shutting off of the present flow from the well. Charlotte Chronicle: Dr. A. M. Her ron, of Steel Creek, was in the city yesterday, and told a Chronicle re porter of the horrible doath Monday morning, at one o olock, of a negro girl, twelve years old , named Cora Herron, daughter of Anderson Herron of Steel Creek. The girl was bitten by a mad dog about 3 weeks ago. Butler's mad-stone was applied, but had no effect. The first symptoms of hor ap proaohing fearful death was a slight headache, which gradually increasod in severity until she feu into convui sions towards the end. She drank no water, nor anything else, for two days previous to her death. If tho word water" was mentioned in ner.pres ence, she would appear to be suffocated and gasp for breath, it a giasa or water was held before her she would go Into convulsions. During these she would foam at the moutn and snap with her teeth,' after the fashion of a dog. Her father, a strong man, held her with her arms pinioned under his during the last throe or four agonized hours of hor life, until her limbs re lazed and he knew that she waa doad. Rooms To Rent.
