There is no Bach thing as overesti aaating the gravity of the situa tion. The Democratic party is threatened with disruption, bat it must beheld together by patriotic bands stronger than tripplo brass. The President did right to express his real sentiments in his message to Congress and leave tbe res pin sibility with the representatives of the people. Whatever may be in dlvidaal opinions, the Democratic party is pursuing the path or dn'y with intrepid step. Tbe questions at issne are being subjected to the ordeal of free debate. Tbe discus aion which has began in tbe Douse will continue for two weeks, and then the vote will be taken and Congress and the people will abide the result. There need be no fear .of a veto should Congress decide adversely to the individual wishes of the President. There will be no constitutional ground for tbe excise of the veto power by the Execu tive. Bat, at all events, the party must get together and enact such legis lation as will restore confidence and give satisfaction to the people. If this is dons the Democratic party will continue in power for ages to come, and the industrious and fra gal people of thebe States will be blessed with unparalleled prosper ity. But, if faction and discord rules the hour and men lose their reason in the wild storm of passion, Republicans will again gain the ascendency, and all we know or dream of want and wretchedness will be the portion of as and our children. United we stand; divided we fall. Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Bemedy is the best medi cine for the purposes for which it is intended that I ever used.
